She was a princess, once.
The dark princess. The princess that no one even considered a princess.
The princess who was banished to the forest, and named after the lighter, sweeter princess so she could always be reminded that, while she was a princess
She was also a witch.
But that was fine, right? At least as a witch, she could do bad things and not feel guilty about it.
…right?
But as she destroyed the castle and took the light princess, the part of her that was once a princess, too, insisted that this was wrong.
But she was quick to silence that, as she brought the light princess into her home in the woods.
Even though she was totally silent, she could already see the lighter one preparing some sort of plan.

She kept her warm and well fed, and never let harm come to her.
She was a witch, but that didn't make her evil.
She just wanted them to see that.
She just wanted to be loved.
And the light princess knew that.
So that's why, when her knights arrived, stomping and raging and demanding, she was the one to send them away.
She'd given up her crown as soon as she'd lain eyes on her-on the witch who should've been there by her side.
And oh! How far had she fallen! To love a witch!
But she held her tight, delicate fingers combing through locks of black, whispering sweet words to the witch that was a princess, the witch that was her sister, and the witch that was her one and only true love.
And they were both content with that, even as the villagers came to the woods with torches and swords and weapons ablaze, and the princess who was a witch and the witch who was a princess ran away together, to safety.
They were content.
Theirs was not a typical ending for a princess, or a witch.
But still, they were happy and in love, and that was all that mattered.
All that ever would matter.
And the light princess gladly leapt off her pedestal, to be caught by the witch who was a princess.
And they lived the rest of their days happily, with only a few shadows.
