This AU idea is something that I've been thinking about for a while and I finally got the courage to write it out. Sherlock seemed like the best story/show to use for it. I love the characters from the show and the original written works, but I do hope to write them in my own style for this particular story. So, they will be slightly OOC. I know that there are a lot of Johnlock shippers, I myself am one, but I'm not sure that this story will head in that direction. We'll see where things go. For now, please enjoy:]
"Sir, I...he asked for me by name? Are you sure?" I was completely incredulous and therefore could not stop the questions from slipping out of my mouth. My assignment officer nodded.
"Yes, he asked for you specifically."
I almost asked him once more if he was certain, but managed to keep my tongue in check. Part of my duties was to follow orders, no questions asked, and I had already asked two. Senior Harrison shuffled a few papers on his desk before looking up at me.
"I know you are surprised by your new assignment, but you shouldn't be. There isn't a man or woman in this line of work that doesn't know the name 'John Watson'. You have made quite the reputation for yourself. Feel proud Watson. Feel proud that you have been charged with such a high official. Even if he is...um...different." He finished with a slight grimace.
"Different?" Shit. That was three.
He shuffled the papers again but this time avoided my eyes, "You should go fetch your belongings before he arrives. I'm sure he's due shortly."
I gave him a salute and turned on my heel towards the door. Different? What did he mean by "different"? In retrospect that should have been my first clue on just how different my new charge would be.
