He bent down to hug me, holding me close. I felt really bad about not telling the others about us... but for now this needed to be kept a secret.

When we separate, he grins at me – that goofy, award winning grin. I roll my eyes and laugh. "Calm down," I say to him. "It was just a hug."

"For now," he says, winking at me. He walks off.

I roll my eyes again and turn to my car. I get inside and turn on the radio before pulling away from the parking lot. Austin's Not a Love Song was playing. I cranked the music and sang my heart out.

A few hours later, when I'm at home, I get a text.

Wanna meet?

I grin and blush.

Yeah

Where, he replies.

I type to him a location.

Okay, see you ;)

The winky face wasn't necessary.

But fun 2 do!

Ok then...

"I'm going out," I shout to anyone listening in the house.

I hear a muffled 'okay' from upstairs and head out. When I arrive there, he's standing off to the side, reading a poster. I come up behind him and scare him. He jumps out of his skin for a second and laughs. He hands me a single red rose. "For you."

"Why, thank you," I say approvingly.

He pulls me in to a kiss, one so sweet and passionate. It was our very first kiss. It was wonderful.

I started feeling sappy.

When I pull away, I'm breathless.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he asks me suddenly.

I stare at him for a moment. "Yes," I agree.

i He pulls me in to another hug. "We should tell them," he says.

I sigh. "I know... but I know what they'll say. They won't be surprised."

"Yeah," he agrees. "It's like how we'd react to them dating."

"I'm waiting for it."

"Me, too."

We sit there in silence, contemplating how to tell them.

"Well, anyway," he says. "We don't have to tell them right now... Want to grab a bite to eat?"

I smile. "Sure."

"Oh," he exclaims. "How about Minis?"

"Uh, no..." I reply. "What if they're there. It's the mall, it's not implausible."

"Oh right. How about we go back to my house and I'll have my mom make something?"

"What, you're too lazy to cook yourself?" I tease.

"Ugh," he scoffs, pretending to be insulted. He laughs. "No, it's just that my mom makes everything better than I do."

"Ah," I say. "Alright. Let's go." I take his hand and we go back to my car. The drive is peaceful and but still fun. We made jokes and laughed.

"...and remember when he kept staring at her and we said something and all she did was roll her eyes. She claims not to like him but it's so obvious," he laughs, thinking back to times we've shared with our friends.

"Yeah," I agree. "And he kept saying 'no I don't like her'. They're such an unlikely pair they're perfect for each other."

"...kind of like us," he blushes.

"...yeah," I smile and take his hand. "Exactly like us."

We knew that we'd have to tell them sooner or later. We hoped they wouldn't be mad or angry with us for keeping it from them. And we hoped they wouldn't disapprove. I mean, it wouldn't matter what they thought, really. But I didn't want it to ruin the friendship between the four of us.

After we ate, I dropped him off at home. I went home and went to bed, nervous.

The next day at school, we decide to get it over with.

We run up to them in the hallways. "Hey, guys," they say, greeting us.

"Uh, hey," we start. "we have to talk to you."

They look at each other, worried. "What's up?"

I look to him and back at them. "Dez and I are dating."

"Trish!" Ally exclaims to me.

"Dez," Austin yells at him, surprised.

"Congrats!" they enthuse in unison.
