Emily threw herself onto her bed and began to choke out sobs. She had never felt so weak, defenceless. She had, after all, survived basically on her own for most of her life. She was used to things being pulled away from her, perfect plans twisting and going in the opposite direction. With Jack though, it was different. Emily had never felt a spark of hope burn brighter than with him. When they kissed, she felt at home, safe. But he had a baby on the way and most likely he was happy with this fact. Emily picked up her phone and dialled.
'Nolan speaking!'
'Hey Nolan, do you want to come over? I-I just really need a friend right now.'
'Okay, Ems. I'm on my way.'
Nolan let himself in and jogged up the stairs to Emily's bedroom. She was in such a horrible state. It had been three weeks since she had found out that Amanda had returned and she had been a mess from then on. For once, Nolan was scared about the lack of revenge in her life right now.
'Emily.' He said with buckets of sympathy. She was sitting cross legged on the bed, wrapped in blankets. Her eyes were red, puffy and watering.
'This is not the Emily I know', he said, wrapping his long arms around her. 'Okay, here's what we'll do. We are going to go to the hottest club and have a great time, get pissed and maybe even lucky.' He added with a wink. 'Go get ready!'
The limousine pulled up outside of a building titled 'Vibes'. It looked bright and young and fresh and new. Somewhere Emily could escape for the night. 'Where exactly are we, Nolan?'
'It doesn't matter! What does matter is that you have a good night.' He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. 'Now go do that! I'm going to go mingle, just put the drinks on my tab.' He scurried off into the crowd.
'Bye' she muttered to herself and slinked her way to the bar.
'Emily? Emily!' A British accent sang through the crowd. Emily found her in the sea of people. 'Ashley! Hey.' She responded. Her eyes fell on the man linked on her arm. Daniel Grayson. 'Daniel. How've you been?' Desperately she searched the crowd for Nolan.
'Pretty good, you?' He responded coldly. 'Good. Actually, I have to find Nolan. I haven't seen him all night. See you later maybe?' As she turned to go she heard Daniel mutter something along the lines of 'It's always about Nolan, isn't it?' She rolled her eyes and continued on her way, taking a swig of a strangers gin on the way.
'Nolan!' She called. She stumbled out through the crowd and studied the couches. There. He was sitting on one of the sofas with another man. They were wrapped in each other's arms, laughing while occasionally leaving kisses. 'Nolan!' Emily said, tapping him on the shoulder. 'Daniel's here. I'm leaving.' Nolan looked at the man and shrugged. 'I gotta go, here's my number.' He handed the man a card from his back pocket and turned to Emily. 'Let's go then.' They walked out of the club in silence.
