I don't own CSI, dang it!! Lol, enjoy the read guys!!
"…and would it be okay, if I didn't know the way." Nick sang along absentmindedly to his country music that he had on the boom box. Lately he was frequenting Josh Turner; he was the one country singer that nobody in the lab complained about. He continued humming to the song as Sara, his partner for this case came into the layout room and began to work on her stack of evidence.
Hearing the thick, deep drawl that was so similar to Nick's own singing voice own the radio, Sara smiled. She always did like this song, it reminded her of the one man who would and always had done anything to make her happy. Midway through pieces together one of the many ripped receipts that they had found at their crime scene, Sara stopped and looked up when she heard Nick's voice again.
"Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea, help me tie up the ends of a dream. I gotta know…would you go with me." Nick sang, still not even noticing Sara, just focused on his work and the song. He was in his own little world and Sara decided to drag him out of it. She smiled mischievously, planning her next move.
"No, I won't" Sara said, effectively knocking Nick out of his la-la land. He smiled his famous smile as her words sunk in.
"And why, pray tell, not?" Nick asked, quirking an eyebrow and pretending to be genuinely shocked at her reply.
"Because I only go with Greg." Sara smiled as Nick jumped and ran to the doorway then shouted:
"WARRICK, PAY UP!!"
Not too far away in the locker room, Greg punched the air triumphantly when he heard Nick shout. He had heard about their bet the week before and now Nick had just confirmed that Sara did have at least some romantic feelings for him.
After shift Sara walked into the locker room and opened her locker, in it she found a note. Slowly and carefully she unfolded the note. She knew that hand writing anywhere!! It was Greg's; slowly she read its contents. Song lyrics? Unfinished…
Would
you go with me if we rolled down streets of fire Would you go with me if we were
lost in fields of clover If I
gave you my hand would you take it Would you go with me if we rode the
clouds together If I gave you my hand would you take it
Would you hold on
to me tighter as the summer sun got higher
If we roll from town to
town and never shut it down
Would we walk even closer until the trip
was over
And would it be okay if I didn't know the way
And make me the happiest man in
the world
If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute
without you, girl
Would you accompany me to the edge of the
sea
Let me know if you're really a dream
I love you so, so
would you go with me
Could you not look down forever
If you were
lighter than a feather
Oh, and if I set you free, would you go
with me
And make me
the happiest man in the world
If I told you my heart couldn't beat
one more minute without you, girl
Would you accompany me to the
edge of the sea
Help me tie up the ends of a dream
I gotta
know…
As she finished reading, Sara heard slow footsteps behind her. She turned and found Greg standing there; he spoke before she could say anything.
"I gotta know, would you go with me?" He asked, smiling and taking a step towards Sara. She gave a quick nod and a gap toothed smile and replied:
"I love you so, so would you go with me?" She took the next step, closing the small gap that was between them and wrapping her arms around his neck. Their first kiss was short and sweet, but it spoke volumes.
In the locker room doorway Nick leaned over to Warrick and said,
"That's another fifty you owe me."
"Awe man!" Warrick groaned, pulling out his wallet.
