"What are we going to do?"

"What do you mean?"

"What are we going to do about our daughter? We sent bounty hunters, and it is clear that the Avatar has outwitted them and our poor Toph is still being whisked around the world being sentenced to danger that is not appropriate for a Bei Fong."

Mr. Bei Fong stopped absentmindedly stroking the heavy marble tabletop abruptly. "Yes, yes that is true. But, oh, you did not see her Earthbending at-at the arena." He spoke haltingly.

"But, but, dear, oh, but Master Yu has repeatedly stated that Toph was only a beginner. Why, I know you never learned Earthbending, but, dear, really, are you so dazzled by simple forms? You have visited Master Yu's most advanced class..." Mrs. Bei Fong looked up from her embroidery hoop.

"No, no, it was beyond that of the most advanced forms at the Earthbending Academy! It was astounding, and perhaps, perhaps...perhaps we should have done the right thing—oh, this is difficult to say—and allowed Toph to go-to go with the Avatar."

"What are you speaking of, dear? Surely you are biased towards Toph in some way, as she is our daughter. Is age clouding your eyes? She is at the beginner's level: simplest forms and breathing exercises. Master Yu said so himself, and I assure you, husband, that my hearing is in perfect condition!" Mrs. Bei Fong looked skeptical.

"Well, wife, Master Yu and Xin Fu also said so themselves that Toph broke her own way out of an iron prison by herself; there was no Avatar to aid her. They have a heap of twisted metal as proof, and they also stated that she left on her way directly, quickening her pace with Earthbending!" Mr. Bei Fong huffed, finally setting forth the full truth.

"Why, my Toph...iron...prison? Oh my..." Mrs. Bei Fong was quite incoherent.
