AN: I got this idea when I was playing DC1 again last night and I thought that the Serpent Sword looked like a very nice fit.

AN2: All the writing in bold is taken from the game directly.

Treant, it had to be said, was a magnificent sight when he was fully restored. His eye stalks waved and he seemed much more lively to Toan when the water was restored as opposed to how dead he had seemed when Toan had first seen him. And he seemed to be grateful, although how a sentient tree (The Fairy King Simba insisted that Treant was a tree fairy or something like that, but Toan preferred the term sentient tree since that was EXACTLY what Treant looked like to him.)

"Hmm…let me reward you with something with something then, little one" Treant said and Toan gave him a puzzled look. How a sentient tree was supposed to actually give him something when he had no hands was a mystery to Toan, but fortunately he was saved from having to ask by Treant's nostrils flaring as he prepared to sneeze.

"Ah-ah-ah-choo!" Treant sneezed violently as Toan covered himself and turned his back to the sheer power of the sneeze and something solid flew out of Treant's nostril and landed with a thud in the grassy ground.

As the stormy power of Treant's sneeze came to a halt, Toan opened his eyes and was surprised to see a sword standing in the ground in front of him, a work of art with a thick set of curves on one side of the vividly red blade and a singular straight side on the other with its green vine pattern on the handle.

"There, go on. Please accept this." Treant said and Toan stepped forward, wondering where the sword had come from and with a confidence he didn't feel, he picked it up.

"This is what all hunters long for," Treant explained as Toan felt the sword fit comfortably into his hand, noting its superb balance and how comfortable it felt in his hand, it could have practically been made for him.

"It's a rare legendary item." Treant paused for a moment.

"The Serpent Sword." He said with some flourish and Toan smiled as he heard the name of his new sword. It sounded as lethal and beautiful as the sword itself felt in his hands. With this blade, Toan felt like he could take on the Dark Genie himself with ease. (An illusion, he knew, but it felt that way.)

"This sword never breaks. Not until accomplished its mission that is."

Toan ignored Treant's error and instead looked hard at the sword. What was its mission exactly? He was definitely intrigued now. He suspected that it had something to do with his quest.

"But once the mission is over, it's a breakable sword, like any other.

It's a rare item. Take care of it little one."

Oh I most definitely will, Toan promised himself. With a sword this beautiful, both in design and handling, he would take VERY good care of it indeed. Turning towards Mataki Village, Toan walked out towards the forest to confront the 'Killer Snake' that had supposedly killed the village hero Fudoh and had left the fierce hammer wielding warrior Goro alone in the world..
