The year was 1984, and Christmas decorations littered the town, beautifully strung lights hung gently off of buildings and homes. There was one house however, that particulary "over-did" it's Christmas Spirit. It was the home of the Pelin's. Jack Pelin, father of three and husband of possibly the most beautiful women in all of Kentucky, loved Christmas. It was his passion, and box upon box of Christmas ornaments and decorations cluttered their large attic.
Jack was rather tall, great for fitting the star perfectly atop the Christmas Tree, his hair was black, and he had clear blue eyes that seemed to twinkle under the millions of Christmas lights that bombarded his home. His wife Pandora had long brown hair, and twilight green eyes, her skin was tan, and she simply laughed at her husbands obsession with Christmas, she enjoyed the colors and smells so she was alright with it. There first born son was fifteen years old, his name was Matt, he loved music and never really came out of his room, but he was a happy person and spent time with his family when he did emerge from his cave. Their second son, Patrick, was an athlete, he was 7 years old. He loved to run and play, he was usually attached to his mothers side all day.
Their last child, was a girl named Emily. Emily loved to play with her dolls and spent most of her days drawing, well to a 3 three old drawing was scribbling all over every scrap of paper they can find, but as she grew she got better. They were a happy family and most people were jelous of them. As Christmas came closer shops were crammed with people, streets were flooded with cars, and aside from all of the hustle and bustle people were still happy and cheery, perhaps "jolly" would be a better word, it was one of Jack's favourites. It was December 23, and Jack was so excited, every time he had to do a chore around the house, it was always accompanied by a Christmas Jingle that he sung greatfully, Jack had an extraordinary voice.
"Deck the halls with balls of holly, fa la la la la, la la la la"
Pandora laughed.
"You should make a CD"
"Yes, that would be a good idea wouldnt it"
"Yes Jack, that's why I said it"
She smiled and Jack laughed.
"Oh darn"
Jack shouted. One of the bulbs of his Christmas lights that he was intertwining the staircase with had broke. "Honey, I need to go buy some more Christmas lights, I'll be back in a few"
With that Jack grabbed his keys and his Winter Jacket, and rushed out the door. Of course, with every beauty comes ugly, the roads were slushy and slippery, drivers were crazy.
Jack was ok with this though, he was a good driver and was to caught up in his Christmas Spirit to care. Unfortunately, he was too caught up in his wonderful world of color and spirit, that he did not notice the stop sign that was directly infront of him, and that's when the collision happened. Then came the blackness. He didn't remember anything when he woke up, he just knew he was in a hospital room with his family around him, and he had a sharp pain in his stomach and head. He lay there, having a hard time catching his breath, then he heard the beeping, the last sound he would ever hear besides his wifes tears, and the nurses screaming for assistance. Then, he was gone.
