Setting - Post ep. 5 (World War Three) - After they saved the day, once again - TARDIS - 9:31 PM

Rose Tyler sat alone in her room on the edge of the bed. Slowly her fingers moved over the comforter, absently brushing against the soft material. Rose tingled with unsettled reminders of the days' events. She and the Doctor had saved the world from horrible monsters, with the help of their friend Harriet.

One specific memory stuck with Rose and kept coming back to her, though. It was the moment when the Doctor was deciding whether or not to go through with his plan. He had said that he might've lost her, if something had gone wrong. Fortunately, nothing had, and both were perfectly fine.

Rose lowered her eyes to the pendant necklace lying a few feet away on her night stand and her eyes traced the shape. Blinking once in wariness, she stood up, almost against her will, and touched the chain. She moved her thumb down the links and finally landed on the golden heart. A few thin strips ran each way around the heart, as if binding it together. An unfamiliar stab of pain shot through Rose's heart as she realised it represented her own self. The twines snaking around her heart were slowly unravelling and she was having a hard time even noticing it. Until now, Rose would not have even come across the absurd idea of how much her heart was changing. How fast it was beating now days.

Lips pursed and throat dry, Rose brought the cold locket to her lips and sealed it with a kiss. A small sliver of hope made its connection.

For the first time it was obvious to Rose, she realised what she should have known all along and would now never forget.

She was his, and he was hers.
