Soooo... those of you who viewed this story before may notice some slight differences below. Reason? I wrote this when I first started high school, and after re-reading the Ouran High School Host Club manga, I wanted to re-write my story. Part of my freak absence has to do with writer's block. The other part has to do with my A.D.D. (I really don't have A.D.D.). I do get distracted easily, but I will try my best to stay on track! Anyway, for those of you who are knew to my story, in future chapters you may notice some similarities to the original manga. Just know that I do not mean to copy anyone's ideas. My story contains my own spin on the storyline, and I have so much appreciation for Bisco Hatori's work that I would never want to do anything to insult her. The added characters in my story are my own, and I hope this story entertains you as much as it entertained me when I thought of it! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Chapter 1: "Yosh! A New Face Appears at Ouran!"

Welcome to Ouran Academy, a highly prestigious school made for the rich and famous. At first glance, one might assume that nothing interesting could ever happen at such a high-strung place, but further observation would throw that thought right out the window. The Ouran High School Host Club is one such example. This club exists for rich, beautiful young ladies with way too much time on their hands who are entertained by rich, handsome young men also with too much time on their hands.

After breaking an extremely expensive vase, Haruhi Fujioka, a scholarship student at Ouran, was forced into the Host Club in order to pay back her debt. Of course, being mistaken for a boy, she was soon moved up from slave dog to an actual host. She has spent her time at Ouran with her new friends, understanding the quite confusing and sometimes illogical minds of theirs. Recently, the Host Club King Tamaki Suoh almost left the club in an attempt to see his mother again. But after chasing him down and talking some sense back into his thick skull, Haruhi convinced Tamaki to stay with them. Now, let's see how well this club accepts a new and unexpected member to their little "family."

"Eh? A new scholarship student?" asked Tamaki.

"Yes, and it turns out that she's here for music instead," Kyoya Ootori, vice president of the Host Club, replied.

The two were sitting at their desks in their homeroom for class 2-A. As usual, they were surrounded by many girls wanting to flirt/get to know them better. You couldn't blame them; who wouldn't want to flirt with two very rich and very cute young men?

"So she must be very talented," added one of the girls. "But why would she just start here now?"

"I heard it's because she came down with a serious illness last year so she had to stay at a hospital," another girl answered.

"No, I heard that she was in some cool internship program where she was able to travel the world."

"Well, I heard that she was part of a secret group of assassins, and she's undercover here on a mission."

And so went the rumors. This continued on for about ten minutes until an obnoxious cough from the front of the room caught everyone's attention. Kyoya saw who was standing over there and said, "Ah, there she is."

"Everyone," announced the teacher, "this is Rei Nobuko, the new scholarship student. Please, welcome her and make her feel like a student."

In front of the students stood a red-haired, beautiful girl. She was not very tall, maybe an inch or two taller than Haruhi, but she had the clearest hazel eyes and princess-like stature that would make anyone's head turn. One thing, though, that offset her feminine look was the black streak in her long bangs, as well as the fact that she was wearing a different uniform than all the other girls. Her uniform was the same color yellow as their dresses, but it looked more like the middle school uniform than anything else.

"Miss Nobuko, please have a seat next to Mr. Ootori," requested the teacher.

"Yes, sir."

Kyoya stood up so that the new student knew who he was. As she sheepishly made her way to her seat, Rei overheard a few of the other students whispering to each other.

"Whoa! So that's the commoner? She's a lot cuter than I thought she would be," said some of the boys.

"I wonder if she has enough money to buy the school uniform?" one girl asked.

"I'd love to see her in it," another girl replied.

Once she reached her desk, Kyoya extended his hand and greeted Rei. "It's very nice to meet you, Nobuko-san. Welcome to Ouran."

Having kept her head down the whole way to her desk, Rei lifted it up to see the person whose hand she was about to shake. As soon as she saw Kyoya, she almost jumped in shock but stopped herself from freaking out. Kyoya, as well, once he saw her face more closely, froze. She looks familiar, he thought. Where have I seen her before?

"U-U-Um, n-nice to meet you as well, Ootori-san," the girl stuttered as she shook his hand.

After letting go of the hand shake, Kyoya re-examined his memory, trying to figure out why she looked so familiar. "I'm sorry, but have we met before?"

Rei waved both her hands as if to say "no way" while taking a step back. "N-No, I don't believe we have. Y-You m-must be mistaken."

Hm, Kyoya pondered as he put his hand to his chin. I could have sworn I know her from somewhere. Breaking the awkward situation that was occurring, Tamaki walked over to Rei's desk, took her hand in his own and kissed it.

"What lovely red hair you have," he complimented as he bent down on one knee. "It can hardly be as lovely as your heart, though, mademoiselle."

Rei's face quickly turned as red as her hair. Who is this guy?! And what kind of introduction is that?!

"Ah, please, forgive me," apologized Tamaki as he got up and bowed. "I am Tamaki Suoh, a humble servant at your disposal. Would you mind if I called you Rei-chan?"

"No, that's fine with me," she said with a smile. "And thank you, but maybe just a friend will do for now."

Seeing her smile, Tamaki couldn't help but do the same. "As you wish, princess. Maybe later on today, Kyoya and I could take you on a tour of the school."

Rei nodded her head cheerfully. "Yes, I'd like that."

"And over here is the main music hall," Tamaki pointed out as he, Kyoya, and Rei walked down the halls of the high school. "This is where you will most likely be performing for recitals, Rei-chan. May I ask what instrument it is that you play?"

The three had already explored most of the school and were just about down with the tour. Rei was in awe at how extravagant everything was and couldn't believe she was in such a wonderful place. While on their little tour, they had gotten to know each other a little bit better. Rei explained that she would have transferred to the school sooner, but her grades in middle school were very low so she had to work extremely hard in her studies during her first year of high school in order to get into Ouran.

"Well, I mainly play the cello, but I also know how to play the piano, violin, and guitar."

"Amazing!" Tamaki praised.

"You know, Tamaki here can play the piano as well," Kyoya informed the girl. "Maybe you two could play a duet for us one of these days."

Rei glanced over at Tamaki and said, "Yeah, that would be nice."

After looking at his watch, Kyoya noticed the time. "Well, Tamaki and I should be going now. Our club activities will be starting soon. I hope you enjoyed the tour, Rei-chan."

"Yes, very much so. Thank you again!"

They waved goodbye to each other as Tamaki and Kyoya headed toward Music Room 3. On their way, however, a few of their classmates stopped them and had a friendly conversation with the two. It didn't matter to them; they had plenty of time before the Host Club started. Finally, they got to the music room. Although, as they approached, they could hear soft cello music reverberating from the room.

"Kyoya, did you set up music for today's club?" wondered Tamaki.

His friend shook his head. "No, but I have a feeling I might know who's behind this music. Shall we sneak a peek?"

Opening the door just a crack, Tamaki and Kyoya stuck their heads in to discover who had invaded their territory. Sitting in the middle of the room was Rei. She was playing her cello to a movement by Bach, her fingers pressing on the strings so smoothly.

"It's absolutely amazing," Tamaki said in astonishment. "I mean, I knew she had to be good to get into Ouran on a scholarship, but I didn't think she'd be this good."

"Huh? What's going on, senpais?" a familiar voice inquired from behind them.

"Haruhi, shoosh!" commanded Tamaki, putting a finger to his lips.

Haruhi, along with the Hitachiin twins, gave a confused look before hearing the music.

"Huh? Is there a concert going on in there that we didn't know about?" questioned the twins.

"No, I would have known about it," Kyoya answered. "I think the new student must have been looking for a quiet place to practice."

"New student?" asked the three freshmen.

"Yeah! Yeah! I heard she's a scholarship student just like Haru-chan!" Hani exclaimed as he and Mori approached their friends. "Ne, Haru-chan, I also heard that you know her!"

At first, Haruhi was confused. But after listening to the music once more, she realized why it sounded so familiar. Ah, it couldn't be! Haruhi said to herself. Immediately, she pushed through the doors, coming face to face with Rei. Once Rei realized who it was, she dropped her bow and cello. "H-Haruhi?"
