Judal does have a softness to him, if he squints.
Aladdin isn't sure what it's all buried under half the time. Any other person would look at Judal and think 'he's horrible' or 'he's evil' or 'he's just a bad person.' Aladdin finds himself looking at Judal and thinking you are very, very sad and lonely, aren't you?
If he voices that, everyone will think he's insane.
He's used to those looks by now.
It keeps him awake at night at Magnoshutt when he should be sleeping, should be worrying about the war far more than any errant individual. He should be worried about Titus, he should be worried about Sphintus, the looks shared between them, but instead he tosses and turns and thinks of a dozen other things–Alibaba, Mor, Sinbad, Ja'far–
Judal, if the Kou Empire indeed is breathing down their throats–
Will I get to see him again?
A troubling thought, that, but not as much as it should be. More than anything, he wonders how Judal is. It's been months and months and Aladdin thinks he isn't so worried about his magical skill in a battle with him. It's more… will the other Magi have the same look on his face, so horribly, terribly twisted with all of that black rukh embracing him like a long lost lover?
It keeps him awake, and makes him sick with worry for reasons he can't quite pinpoint.
Helping others–helping them achieve their dreams, their wants, their needs–that is what he wants to do.
What is he supposed to do when they don't seem to have any?
