This is my version of the song that Hagrid and Slughorn sang at the funeral. I dedicate it to Bagge who not only inspired me but also was kind and checked my poem before I posted it and made some modification to it so it would be better. I must warn you that this is my first attempt to write a poem and that's why it's not exactly perfect. As far as I know my poem is the fourth version of the story. I advice you to read the poems written by: Bagge, Nimbus1944 and Cjan5. I know that mine is not as good as the others but mine has a different story.

Disclaimer: The last paragraph and Odo belong to Rowling while the rest is mine and all mine (With a little help from Bagge. Thanks again. I owe you big time.).

Odo's poem

Once upon the darkest times,
There was a wizard nice and wise,
Who liked to travel far and wide,
As teacher at a wizard school.

He went in search for open minds,
For children of a special kind,
That he could teach all that he knew
About the magic in the world.

And then one day he came across
The largest village ever seen
But there were troubles in the town
Desperate shouts and babies' cries,

That broke through the silent sky.
Odo ran to help around and what he found
Shook him deep inside:
Parents held their children tight
As villains tried to take them away.

Odos heart was filled with rage
As he saw this terrible scene
For who would be so very cruel
To take babies away?

He raised his wand with steady hand
With only one thing in his mind:
To curse the men who did such thing,
Deprive a parent of his child.

He hexed the closest one, who fell,
The other one in anger cried:
"How dare you raise your wand at us?
Know you not who we are?"

"I do not know, and do not care,
To me you're cowards, nothing more!"
"How dare you speak to us like that?
How dare you stand up for these filths?"

"I've made an oath, I will protect
Anyone in need of it.
Now raise your wand, if you dare,
And fight with me!"

Poor Odo did not get to finish
All that he had to say,
For he was cursed from behind
And everything went black.

Poor Odo woke to find himself
Well tied in sturdy chains.
He looked around and realized;
He was surrounded, without wand

A cruel voice was heard from the dark:
"So you're the fool who fought my men,
A muggle lover as they say,
Who thinks himself a hero."

Our hero raised his eyes
And looked defying at the man
Which angered his capturer
Who now began to shout.

"How dare you look me in the eye?
Do you not know at whom you look?
The greatest wizard of them all!
So bow and swear loyalty!"

Our Odo knew the man by name,
The darkest wizard in the world.
He hated muggles above all
And he had sworn to kill them all.

Odo calmly answered: "No"
That evil man would never have
The satisfaction to be known
By every wizard in the world.

"You think you're smart, you think you're brave
But you're not even close,
It shall be seen by everyone.
Lets duel, fiend, until one dies!"

"And if I win your men will leave
Your men will let these people go
And if you win you may go on, I do not care,
For I will win this duel!"

Freed and given back his wand
Odo took of his pointy hat
And turned its inside out for luck
His first spell missed his opponent.

And so they dueled, on and on
For hours, until night had come
And both were tired from the fight.
But still they dueled on.

The evil man cast yet a spell
That hit poor Odo in the chest
And made him fall in pain
And break his wand in two.

But Odo raised his broken wand
And hoarsly cried a killing curse
The wizard fell, and all his men
Were killed, by Odo's last attempt

And Odo the hero, they bore him back home,
To the place that he'd known as a lad,
They laid him to rest with his hat inside out
And his wand snapped in two, which was sad.
