Sora had disappeared. After kingdom hearts, he hadn't returned to Destiny Islands. He left me and Kairi alone, to fend for ourselves, try to pick up the pieces of our lives, without him.

Sora, the sky, the light that soared when nothing was left. He missed everything. You must be dead when you miss weddings, people's fears, hopes and aspirations. You have to be dead when you miss your own birthday. Not a whisper, not a sign. No hint that he was ever here. Everything that was Sora was gone, never to be seen again.

I never thought that I would care this much.

I know you're there…

I'm marrying Kairi, and he's not here to see it. It's beautiful. Decorations everywhere, a myriad of white and pink. Paopu fruit, as well. I had always thought he would be the one to share it with Kairi.

But he's not here too. So I'm doing it for him, trying to live his dreams, as I look into Kairi's gorgeous eyes.

It's a haze, of half-forgotten memories, empty promises and broken dreams. Going around in circles and circles and never stopping. Where does Sora end? Where does he begin? What do we do now?

I take Kairi's hand and hold it against my chest… so hard that it nearly hurts. Her eyes are lost in a sea of brown hair.

Why don't you join me?

I know you can…

I swear that I can hear him. Feel his lips ghost against my ear. But it can't be real, he's gone, the sky fell against the ground. All I have is Kairi. All the other faces aren't really real… are they? Tidus, Wakka, Selphie… they weren't there, were they?

But then…

Even Kairi wasn't there. Wasn't there as much as Sora was. Could never smile like Sora… she would never replace him, no matter how much I might wish it.

She smiles.

Every move she makes is drenched with Sora's essence. It's as if I see everything like Sora. Because he's not here.

You know you can't do this…

We dance. Kairi swirling around in her flowing white dress, veil pulled back from her stunning eyes.

Back and forwards. Others dance too. Around and around and around.

How long can I keep this up?

My hand feels cold around Kairi's… and something is stirring inside me. A voice… or something.

What's wrong?

You know you can hear me…

Comecomecomecomecomecome…

Another twist, another turn, another half-forgotten smile. I can't remember Kairi's face, because she's in my arms.

Married… but what does that really mean?

Together, forever?

Where's Sora?

Shouldn't he be here?

Where do I stop being me, and start being Sora?

That's it…

My eyes glazed, the colours whirled around me. I couldn't see.

What's happening?

You know where to go…

Riku…

Somewhere out there, Sora smiled.

And she never saw him again.

Because Riku had turned around and left.

And yet Kairi smiled as she cried, as Sora was doing.

Because she knew that she could never keep Riku, because Sora had gone.

Her memories lost in a myriad of brown and silver hair, and voices circling in her head.

Why won't you join us?

Well, there you go. This was another AU after the KH1 finished thing. Did you like it?

It was a bit rushed, but I said all that I wanted too.
