Translated from an ancient scroll, discovered in the Dead Sea:
He came to us from the heavens in a chariot of blue fire, with his woman, both naked like the first denizens of the garden. So sacrosanct was he that he spoke not, and told us his tale through his companion, a girl of such flawless beauty that surely she was an angel. He told of the coming of another, an evil one who would rise to power and destroy all men, and that he himself was the only hope of our people, for all people.
As it was said, so it came to pass, and another nation came to war on us. Their greatest warrior slew us by the thousands, and called for the One to be brought forth. The angel counseled us that his words were lies, he would slay us to the last man no matter what we gave him. Even the little children would not be spared.
They called for precious metals to be sacrificed, and fires to be made, the heat of which had never been seen before. All the priests assisted the angel, that the rod of triumph be made. When it was complete, the angel took it to the wilderness, to offer it to heaven as tribute for victory.
Then our champion came onto the field, armed only with a sling and five stones from the river. He was slight of build and youthful of face, he appeared so young to face the spear and arrow.
The champion of our enemy then appeared, to face him in single combat. He was a huge and sinewy man, who eyes glowed with the rage of hell when he made war. He carried many spears and the largest axe of any warrior in his army.
Our champion swung round his sling and loosed his shot. The sound of thunder was heard as the stone struck its target, the head of the enemy giant. He fell dead like a statue, and without their leader, his host retreated and victory was ours. There was much feasting and rejoicing in the hero's honor that night, and his angelic companion returned from the wilderness to be by his side.
He stayed with us for many years after, and we benefitted greatly from his council. When our king died, we offered him the throne and he ruled us wisely for many years. It was known in time that while she was of the heavens, he was of the earth, for he aged like any man while she kept the same countenance for all her days.
When his time came like all men, to pass into the kingdom of heaven, she had built a special tomb for him to be interred in. The entire building was to be designed to operate as one of the ingenious clocks that had been invented of late. She then became as the dead, lying motionless, and without breath or heartbeat. Her body was then laid by his side as she had commanded, saying that some day he would be born again when his people needed him, and that she must be there by his side when he returns.
Fin.
