"Tell me why we shouldn't kill you now. The Conclave is destroyed. Everyone who attended is dead. Except for you."
Dear, Maker please help me. I have some green mark inside my hand and Templars around me. No, they can't send me to a circle.
"I just came from the Frostback, I didn't do anything Seeker." Maker, I don't need the right hand of the Divine pissed at me. "I can't remember anything."
"What do you mean you don't remember?" she practically yelled in my face.
Oh, Maker she is pissed. She's gonna kill me now. "Please don't hurt me. I'd tell you if I knew." I'm shaking now.
Her eyes softened and she backed away. Maybe I won't die tonight.
"The last thing I remember was a woman," I closed my eyes and concentrated on the memory. Spiders everywhere. Climbing up steps and then a woman reaches out. "She reached out to me."
Cassandra was about to speak until the another lady beat her to it. "Look, we're not going to hurt you. As of right now you are our only suspect."
"I've lived in the Frostbacks for three years. Never even stepped foot out of there until this conclave. I have nothing against you people."
"He's lying!" Cassandra moves to me again with her arm outstretched as if to smack me.
"Cassandra look at him! He's shaking like a leaf. He's telling the truth." The women gave me a pitiful look.
Cassandra stared into my eyes as if she was peering into my very soul. "Go to the forward camp Leliana. I will take him to the breach."
When Leliana left, Cassandra pulled me to my feet and replaced the shackles with rope.
"What is this breach?" Please don't hit me.
The warrior scowled at me. "It's a massive rift into the world of demons that grows larger with each passing hour. It's not the only such rift, just the largest. All were caused by the explosion at the conclave."
"I don't think explosions can do that."
"This one did. Unless we act, the breach may grow until it swallows the world."
The Breach then grew, the mark flared, and then I collapsed to the ground in pain.
"Each time the Breach expands, your mark spreads... and it is killing you. It may be the key to stopping this but there isn't much time."
"Will helping stop this giant... hole in the sky let me go back to the mountain."
"We shall see. I can't promise you anything."
I'm going to die! I don't know how to fix this.
Cassandra pulled me to my feet and escorted me through town.
"What exactly happened?" Everyone in the village glared and scowled at me.
She took out a dagger and cut the ropes binding my hands. "They have decided your guilt. The people of Haven mourn our Most Holy. She.." Cassandra paused and looked ahead.
"Was the Conclave hers?"
"It was a chance for peace between mages and templars. Now everyone who attended is dead, except for you."
"I'm sorry, I know how hard it is to lose someone you care deeply for." Wait, that's not my Starkhaven facade. Idiot, go back to it before she asks questions.
She was at a loss for words before she gave me the smallest hint of a smile. "Come. It is not far." Why is she taking me to the valley?
When we reached the top of the hill, the mark again flares. "Son of a," I hissed.
"Here," Cassandra reached out for me to take her hand.
"Thanks," when I am up to my feet I muttered curses to the mark. Stupid piece of shit.
We came across another bridge and as we were about to cross, it collapsed. Both of us tumbled down onto a frozen river.
"Stay behind me!" Cassandra yelled.
I cracked open my eyes to see Cassandra fighting a demon. Then to my outstanding luck, another one comes to me.
To my left are a shield and a bow Which one do I use? "Fuck it," I picked up the shield and start beating the shade with it. "Just die already!" I screamed as the demon shrieks. It's over."
Cassandra pointed her sword at me and then facepalmed. "Why in the name of the Maker are you using a shield?"
"A demon tried to-"
"I know what the shade tried to do, Maker! You're a mage, use a staff."
"I.. there isn't one over there."
"For crying out loud. Here, take these potions. You're going to need the lyrium if you don't have a staff. " She sighed loudly. "Just what we need."
"Don't worry, my good staff is in my little area in the mountains." I rememberd how far away that is. "Shit, okay maybe we will find a staff around here."
A flash of ice shot out from my hands as I tried flanking the demons. "Still got it," I boasted while freezing the demons.
"You okay without a staff?" Cassandra asked while we were climbing up steps.
I gave a quick nod. "Hope my magic is enough to keep me alive." As we neared the top, I could hear fighting. "I take it we are not alone."
"You'll see soon. We must help them."
"Then lead the way."
