Prologue –

Serena awoke in a small, white room, on a bed that was bent and not comfortable, with an annoying plastic cup covering her mouth and tubes protruding from her arm. At first, she wondered if she was dreaming, and tried to move her hand so that she could pinch herself, but moving hurt, and she wasn't one for pain.

"She's awake," a feminine voice whispered, "Someone get the doctor."

The doctor…so she was at a hospital? She blinked and looked at the nurse who had spoken, and opened her mouth to ask a question, but the plastic cup was in her way, and she wasn't about to move her arm again. Instead, she closed her eyes again, and tried to remember the last thing that had accrued before she had woken up.

She could remember nothing.
