Link stood with his arms crossed behind his head, peering sideways at the goddess. She stared back at him, waiting for an answer. Her words rang in his ears: "What are you going to do, Link?" Both of their Loftwings touched down next to them, each standing by the side of their respective riders. Link patted his Loftwing gently and smiled, but sadness appeared in his eyes. Zelda looked away from the pair. Trying to hide her sadness as she waited to hear the sound of Link's Loftwing embarking on a flight back to Skyloft, Link in tow. Link sighed as his Loftwing took off. Zelda's did the same, realizing her rider would not be accompanying her back into the sky. Zelda turned back around, letting tears fall freely, since she was now alone.
"Zelda?" said Link tentatively. "Everything alright?" Zelda looked up and warmth filled her heart as her eyes met those of her dearest and presently concerned friend. Tears flooded out of her eyes as she threw her arms around Link. "I'm so happy you're staying here with me!" she cried. Link smiled and blushed inwardly at the implication of the last two words. He held his friend for what would be an uncomfortably long time, though neither of them tried to break from the embrace. Finally Link pushed away gently, holding Zelda at the shoulders. "Did you really think I would leave you?" he smiled. Zelda let out a small laugh and wiped her eyes. "I'm not quite sure. You and Groose seem to have taken a liking to each other. I was afraid he had replaced me as your best friend." Link laughed whole heartedly. "Nope! Although he did mention that he would come back down to the Surface…eventually. So you should watch your back. He might swoop in and woo me some more." Link winked and Zelda laughed.
"We're back on top of the statue" Link pointed out. "Just like the wing ceremony." "Very true." noted Zelda. Link smiled menacingly and pulled Zelda close to him. He grabbed one of her hand and held it in his. "You know what happens now right?" He asked. Zelda's faced turned hot and she stared in the boys dark blue eyes. Suddenly, she felt a tickle in her palm only to find Link slipping one end of her sailcloth into it. Her stomach dropped and she looked at him in terror. He smiled and held her tighter. Then abruptly pushed off and sent them hurting off the statue. The cloth slowed their fall, but did not break it entirely. They crashed to the ground. Link still holding tightly to Zelda. She pushed herself up and kicked Link lightly/ "You jerk!" she laughed. Link howled in fake pain, clutching the arm that made contact with Zelda's foot. "Ow! Oh goddess, why have you forsaken me?!" he cried to the heavens. Zelda laughed until her sides hurt and she collapsed to the ground next to her friend. She sighed as one finally chuckled escaped her lips. She sat for a while before feeling Link's gaze on her. She looked over at him and he smiled. "It's so beautiful here," he said, not taking his eyes off the goddess. "It is" she breathed. "So now that we're going to live down here all by ourselves…what are we supposed to do?" asked the hero. "Hmm" Zelda breathed. "I suppose we should start building a shelter for ourselves. We can sleep in the temple in the mean time."
"Alright!" Link stood and stretched. "Time to get moving!" "Wow Link, I'm impressed. You certainly have changed if you'd rather work than nap." stated Zelda. Link held out a hand to help her up. "What kind of chosen hero would I be if I chose napping over building a home for my goddess?" he smiled. Zelda blushed. He held her hand as they walked toward the temple doors.
