Evan Hansen was in a panic.

He had just spoken to Connor Murphy.

He had a serious crush on Connor Murphy.

It was not even 10 minutes ago that they had spoken; Connor had noticed his cast, asked how it happened, then actually signed it.

Connor Murphy signed his cast.

Evans heart skipped a beat.

He looked down at his cast, the name Connor sprawled across it.

"Oh my god."

"I think I'm going to be sick."

"He actually talked to me, and he didn't insult me or push me up against a wall."

"I wish I had the courage to go after him."

"To tell him the truth."

"But I can't."

Connor thought he might have found a truly decent person to hang out with, but then he saw the letter.

He felt so, angry. And hurt.

The truth was, Connor liked Evan.

He just never knew how to tell him so.

Seeing how dedicated the letter was about Zoe, how everything depended on Zoe, Connor could barely control his emotions.

"Evan likes Zoe, not me." He thought.

He had stormed out of the classroom, too upset to be around anyone.

He ran out of the building in tears.

Evan stood awkwardly, contemplating whether or not he was going to muster up the courage to go after Connor.

He wanted Connor to know everything, to understand.

Then he did something he never thought would ever be possible for him.

He ran after Connor.

"Connor! Wait!" Evan called.

Connor paused mid-step.

"I'm sorry, you misunderstood. Let me explain, please?"

Connor hesitated.

"Please, Connor?" Evan choked out. He was almost ready to cry.

Connor slowly turned to face Evan, his face flush and his eyes brimming with tears. He wiped them away.

"F-fine." Connor sniffed.

Evan explained everything. He poured his heart out to Connor, who listened quietly.

"C-connor. I-I...I really like you." Evan confessed. When Connor didn't respond he turned away, ashamed.

"Evan-" Connor spoke softly. He approached Evan and turned him to face him, holding his chin so that their eyes met.

"I like you too."
