Summery: Harry reflecting on Sirius's death
Disclaimer. I don't own the song or anything you recognize from Harry Potter.
A/N Response to contest on the Hideaway.
Lying in my bed I hear the clock ticks and think of you
Harry stared at the non-descript ceiling of his small bedroom at Number 4, Privet Drive. He dully registered the clock striking midnight. In a few hours he would have to get up and start doing his chores. What was another sleepless night compared to the nightmares?
Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new
He couldn't stop thinking about that night. It just kept replaying again nd again in his memory, like a broken video player.
Flash back warm night, almost left behind
He remembered the first time they had truly met. When the man had asked him to move in, only moments after aquantance. He had felt wanted an dloved for the first time in his life.
Suitcase
of memories
That memory was such a happy memory. So happy that he used it for the Patronus to ward off Dementors. But he could never look on it with such fondness again. For the glorious beginning would forever be tainted by that bitter end.
Time
after sometime you pictured me I'm walking too far
ahead You're callin' to me I can't hear what you've
said You said: "Go slow, I fall behind"
He can't stop dreaming about that night. When he lost yet another parent figure. Although he realize, with a sad smile that it is more of a nightmare than a dream. For he is running and running but he can't catch him. He can't.
The second hand unwinds
Another hour has crawled by. Aunt Petunia would be displeased if breakfast wasn't on the table.
If
you're lost you can look and you will find me Time after
time If you fall I will catch you, i'll be waiting Time
after time
He feels responsible. The guilt consumes him, haunting his every waking moment. Yet he dares not sleep for the vision as he slumbers are even worse. Much, much worse.
I
turn, my picture fades And darkness has turned to
grey Watching through windows You're wondering if I'm
OK
He had know it was a futile hope when he looked through the mirror. But he couldn't help but hope. Because he couldn't accept it. It was too hard.
Secrets
stolen from deep inside The drum beats out of time
But time is passing. And the world is still turning. Everyone else has moved on. Yet he cannot. His thoughts still linger restlessly.
Time after
time If you fall I will catch you, i'll be waiting Time
after time
If
you're lost you can look and you will find me
But he couldn't save him. He had tried but he had failed. And now he would never see Sirius again. Never hear his bark of a laugh nor his tall tales. Harry got up and began to dress. He had chores to do.
