{In the Rain}

Rated: T

Disclaimer: I do not own Gossip Girl.

Pairing: Serena/Nate

The rain wouldn't stop. Why did it always have to be a downpour when she only wished to visit the boardwalks and lounge about the beaches? Serena made a mental note to never think about skiing when the sound of a car beeping from behind caused her to jump. She spun to find Nate in a blue 99 Mustang, with dark shades and a huge grin. "You look like drown rat that finally came up." He stated and she growled.

"Shut up. What are you doing here?"

She watched a shrug roll along his shoulders. "I went to come out for the beach but it looks like that was a waste of time."

Serena laughed, "Yeah no kidding. I would have just stayed inside at the house if I knew this was going to happen." Then she frowned. "Where is Vanessa?"

"Home."

"Why aren't you with her?"

Nate pushed back the shades that he obviously didn't need and gave her a look that said 'watch the line.' She bit her bottom lip. "We're just friends, Serena. Not together."

"Oh."

He motioned with his head, "You want to get out of here before you really do end up drowning in this downpour?"

She gave her trademark smirk and nodded. Quickly she tossed her bag in the back and got herself comfortable. Nate started the car and before she knew it, they were flying down the street. "So," she said.

"So…"He reiterated.

"Feel like dancing in the rain?" Serena watched with curiosity as her suggestion sunk in and the man's blue eyes crinkled with mirth.

"Seriously?"

"Serious as a heart attack."

Nate looked around. "Right here though?"

Serena gave her light-hearted laugh. "Yes! Come on, pull over."

Before the car could even fully stop, she was already throwing open the door and flinging her body into the sheet layers of rain. Swaying her hips, she twisted around and found Nate throwing his head back with his arms spread eagle. "That's it! Now move the hips." She grabbed said hips and started making them move. Nate laughed, grabbed both her hands and started doing a funny waltz.

"The tango!" Serena shouted and they began strutting across the road, their clothes thoroughly soaked.

"The jive" Nate flipped her around, their wet bodies sliding against each other as they laughed.

When the clouds began to rumble, their bodies becoming water logged, Nate suggested to head inside the car. Quickly they made their way back to the Van der Woodsen mansion where they made away with their wet clothes, fingers and arms chilled.

Grabbing the garments, Nate dropped them into one of the hampers in the bathroom and laughed when Serena signaled for him to hope in the shower with her. Still wearing their undergarments, they washed out the rain from their hair and blasted bubbles all over the shower stall.

"Ah, my eye!" Serena's laughter bounced through the bathroom as she pulled his larger hand from his face.

"Let me see." She leaned close, blowing on his eye. "Feel better?"

He blinked, watching her as she stepped back a fraction. "Yeah. A lot better now."

She smirked and pulled two towels from the rack and handed him one.

"I'm thinking we should hang out more this summer…" She said nonchalantly over his shoulder as they stepped out.

"Yeah," Nate responded, his voice quiet, "maybe check for when the next storm is coming."

His answer was a goofy grin and a kiss to his cheek. "Then it's a date, Mr. Archibald."
