Authors Notes: This is my first fanfiction. It was written once upon a time when my cousin and I injured our feet at the same time. Since we couldn't do anything, we teamed up and wrote this. So just recently, I decided to edit it up a bit... a lot.. and post it as my first fanfiction on this site.

Please read and reveiw: if you give me some opinions to chew on, I'll be sure to feed back and reveiw your stories too.

Snape's Potions Tutor:

The marauders were by the lake, enjoying a sunny Saturday afternoon. As usual, the four of them were gathered around the big tree with twisted branches. Sirius was nestled among the leaves, his eyes closed, his hands behind his head, his hair blowing softly in the breeze. James was playing with his stolen snitch again, Peter ogling at the walnut-sized golden ball as it flew a foot or so away, and James caught it, over and over.

"Hey, Moony! Isn't that enough studying for one day?" James asked as he played this little game, noting that Remus was still surrounded by textbooks, parchment, and a rumpled-looking quill.

"I say one can never study enough. Maybe this is the reason I'm the only one who ever passes history with more than a 'Dreadful'." the werewolf retorted with a slight grin on his face before dipping his head back into the particularly large, particularly uninteresting - looking book titled 'The Future of the History of Trolls.'

"Oh come on, you never do anything outside of academic studies, eating, and sometimes sleep." Sirius commented, looking down at his friends from the branches he was sitting in.

"And taking a few moonlight strolls." Remus reminded them, chucking, "I won't have time to study this evening."

"Neither will we!" squeaked Peter, a comment that made the four of them laugh.

"Hold on to that thought…" Sirius said, jumping down from the tree, "I spy, with my little eye, something ugly, greasy, and sniveling."

The four of them glared at the sight approaching

"Hey, Snivellus!" James called out as Snape reached the tree, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm meeting someone here! You have a problem with that?" Snape spat back, a slight blush rising to his cheeks.

"Oh, is Snivellus blushing? Has our little sniveling friend found a girlfriend?" Sirius replied scornfully, causing Peter to chuckle.

"Oh, leave him alone!" a red headed girl about their age interjected as she approached the tree.

"Hi, Lily." James said, tucking the snitch away and striding over immediately to take a place by her side. "What brings you to these parts?"

"I'm meeting Severus here. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?" Lily replied scornfully.

" Wait- what- why-" James sputtered

"Why are you meeting him?" Sirius finished for his friend who was still at a loss for words, " I mean you're not… you're not…"

"What? Going out?" Lily laughed, "I'm not his girlfriend! I'm meeting him because Professor Slughorn asked me to help him out- I'm his Potions Tutor!"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, that sure was an interesting day!" Sirius commented as he and James settled into their beds that evening.

" Never again shall I be so quick to judge my fair Lily." James replied, "She is unpredictable and independent- never again shall I assume her actions…"

" Were you not listening?" Sirius interrupted James's ramble, "She was his potions tutor! Think about it. A muggle born, a Gryffindor, teaching a Slytherin potions- which is their best subject."

"Yeah, I see what you're saying-" James mused, "Perhaps we could manage something on that…"
