Before she meets Harribel and Sun-Sun she wanders alone, aimless throughout the deserts, a proud, maned lioness without a pride of her own. The cat in Mila-Rose allows her to roam alone without regret. Solitude has a fierce sweetness of its own as the moon makes its passage above her.
Mila-Rose has no desert voice, no desert past; her footsteps as swallowed up by the sand. She listens to the desert's melody as it sings sweetly into her keen ears. There is nothing else but this, and the clean, savage joy of the hunt, of flesh crunching and blood washing over her teeth.
She comes to be feared throughout the wastes which she most commonly inhabits. Mila-Rose is the most powerful predator in the vicinity but the pickings are slim as the lesser Hollows flee from her and leave to find safer sands to hunt on.
Mila-Rose is alone again, and hungry, so she starts to venture south.
Her paw prints are obliterated by the sand as soon as they make their mark and she herself is swallowed up by memory and time. Tail flicks, acid green eyes narrow and powerful muscles constrict as she goes for the kill again.
Alas, this Hollow is stringy and doesn't provide a good meal.
By the time Mila-Rose finds Harribel and finds a pride she can roam with, the memory of her has been obliterated from the sand.
But still, without knowing why, the Hollows of the dunes and rocky outcroppings she once ruled fear the sound of a distant roar, even if they know it to only be the wind.
They fear the queen might come back.
