I was ill again as we arrived at the airport. Edward had been muttering the whole way there, a string of mingled swear words and oaths. It didn't help my nerves or my stomach. I handed the full paper bag to the disgusted looking air attendant, apologizing and blushing heavily.
We walked out of the terminal, all of our bags slung over Edward's broad shoulders.
"Do you feel sick again?"
The blood slithered from my face, but I shook my head vigorously.
"I just need to go to the bathroom." I could feel his eyes on my retreating back as I turned the corner to the ladies room. I caught sight of my reflection in the mirror and grimaced. My hair was snarled and sticking up in places, I looked greyish with a fresh sheen of sweat on my forehead. A crease indented between my eyebrows, giving my look an overall negative mood. I straightened my clothes and pulled my hair back with a sloppy pony-tail and turned away without another look.
"Are you okay?" Edward's face had been frozen into the same concerned, self-hateful expression ever since I had showed him the box of tampons.
I nodded and attempted a half-hearted smile.
"So where are they?" I was growing jumpy. I needed Rosalie.
"I can hear them… they're just around the corner."
I gave a sigh of relief as Carlisle, Alice, Emmett, Jasper, and Esme came into view. And Rosalie. My heavy jacket dropped to the floor as I ran into her arms, and the tears began to pour. Her pale fingers smoothed my hair as she whispered soothing things in my ear. We remained stationary for minutes on end as I let all of my built up stress out.
I pulled away and smiled weakly at the rest of my confused family. Edward's face seemed to be going through the different stages of denial, and I watched them pass. Realization seemed to hit him and he nodded, understanding. We walked towards Edward's Volvo in the car park, Rosalie staying behind to match my slow human pace.
Carlisle began talking as we drove down the highway.
"If your going to abort, we must do it quickly. From the little I know of these human-vampire pregnancies, it can be fatal if you don't do soon. As soon as we get home."
Panic flashed through my mind, and Rosalie read my mind in an instance. I couldn't speak, so she did for me.
"Bella's not going to have an abortion. She's keeping the baby."
