Happy Birthday Livia! This one is dedicated to you!
Betty sat in Gio's deli watching the rain pour down violently outside. He was busy making her a sandwich and she was grateful as it had been a stressful day and he was just away to close when she had finally gotten away from the MODE building.
"So, B, you never told me what's wrong?" Gio said handing Betty a sandwich. She shrugged her shoulders and tucked in. "Oh, nothing really. Just a stressful day," she said between bites. "Betty, what has happened between us? We used to be so close and I'm not happy about how we have ended up. You barely speak to me anymore and are so distant. Just because I said I didn't want to be your boyfriend doesn't mean I don't want to be your friend," he said feeling slightly frustrated. Betty looked up from her sandwich.
"Gio, you know how crazy it has been recently. I'm sorry for not being as close as we were but we both hurt each other. It is going to take a while to get us back to where we were," she said to him, looking him straight in the eye. He stared back at her and she could see the hurt in his eyes. "Suarez! How dare you say I hurt you? I did nothing but love you! I loved you with my heart, my body and my soul and you shot me down and sent me packing. I gave you another chance and now YOU are acting differently," he exclaimed in one breath. Betty could see the anger on his face and his words stung her.
"But… but… Gio. You hurt me too. The way we left things at my apartment, it killed me! I wanted to run after you and just hug you and kiss you, but I couldn't," she exclaimed silently. "Gio moved towards her. "And why not?" he shouted at her.
She turned away from him and moved back to her seat. "Exactly Suarez! You run away when it gets too hard! I am fed up of it. I either want you to commit or not. You can be my friend or stay away from me forever! Your choice," he yelled storming out the deli and making sure the door slammed behind him. Tears poured down Betty's face.
The rain pounded hard on Gio's head and within a minute of being out in the rain his whole body was soaking. He stood outside his deli breathing deeply and letting the rain hit him. His clothes stuck to his body. He started to walk away from his deli a bit and turned around to see Betty running towards him. "Gio, wait! Don't leave. I'm stupid," she said approaching him. He looked and saw the rain splashing her tear stained face. "Well, I'm not going to disagree," he said looking at her, glad that she came after him but not willing to show it. "Well, can we go inside? You're soaking and will get a cold if we stay out here any longer," she said looking at his t-shirt sticking to his toned body. It had gone see through now. Gio looked at her. "No, we need to talk now! Why are you being like this? You are cold and distant! One minute you want me the next you don't. You can't keep playing me around like this," he said letting his raw emotions show in his voice.
Betty didn't know what to do. She looked up at him and saw the passion along with the hurt in his eyes. She did the only thing she could do. She kissed him. It wasn't just a gentle kiss, it was a full on, I want you now type kiss. Taken completely off guard, Gio froze. Betty didn't care. She was finally doing something for herself for once.
Gio noticed that Betty's lips were still firmly planted on his own. He held her back tightly and kissed her with all the passion inside of him. He had given in. How could he stay mad at her? He still loved her after all, he always would.
Pulling apart slightly, Gio hoarsely whispered, "Come on, I don't want you getting flu," and he pulled her inside the deli." Betty smiled as he put his arm around her shoulders and guided her inside. "I'm sorry Gio," she whispered into his neck. He smiled as he felt her breath. "It's ok," he replied knowing his heart would soon be mended properly by the woman who had broken it in the first place.
