A/N: This is my first published story that I've been working on for a while. Basically this is a series of missing moments from Philosopher's Stone to Deathly Hallows, they're all about Ron and Hermione because I adore them as a couple! But other character's will be mentioned or features in some of the chapters. Each chapter will have 3, possible 4 missing moments in order to shorten the number of chapters and get through each book. This chapter only features one missing moment in order to get the story started.

Trolls, friendships and homework
"Ron?" Hermione called as she slowly descended down the cold, dense stairs towards the common room.
Ron tore his eyes away from his homework and turned around to see who the speaker was. From the stories he had been told by his brothers, Ron thought Hogwarts would end up being the best years of his life, but most nights, rather than practising magic, he had to attempt to complete the monstrous piles of homework he'd be given.
"Erm... do you mind if I sit down?" she asked. Fortunately for her, the pink blush in her face was almost completely hidden by the firelight.
"Um..." Ron hurriedly sat up from where he was sat on the sofa and moved his books and pieces of parchment to the floor. The rustling of paper and the crackling of the fire seemed to break the tension between them.
Hermione smiled graciously and short distance away from him on the sofa, placing one leg over the other and folding both her hands delicately into her lap.
"I just wanted to say thank you... for saving me earlier," she whispered as if scared someone might hear their conversation.
Ron frowned for a moment; he had almost forgotten about the incident with the troll earlier.
"Oh, well y'know me and Harry-"
"I'm not talking about Harry though, I'm talking about you," Hermione replied calmly.
Ron cleared his throat and shifted awkwardly in his seat. "Well we-I, couldn't just stand and watch you be killed by some fat, ugly troll could I?"
A small smile crept on Hermione's face as she nodded and looked at him deeply in his eyes; it was only a short while ago she met Ron and she almost hated him immediately. He was rude, arrogant, and not very nice to be around, but speaking to this version of Ron, Hermione found herself believing there was more to this ginger idiot than she thought.
"Well thank you anyway," she said. "If we could, I would really like us to start again and be friends? I suppose I could at least try and bare your arrogant attitude considering you did save my life." She grinned.
Ron bit his lip, trying to either hold back a laugh or saying something stupid that would cause an argument. "I guess so," he murmered. "And I'll try put up with your bossiness, your bushy hair, and let's not get started on those silly 'smart' words you come out with that me and Harry struggle to understand." He smiled lightly.
They both then shook hands, marking the beginning of their friendship.
"Well goodnight," Hermione whispered, climbing the stairs.
"Goodnight," Ron whispered after her.
