A/N- Okay you guys I got a new one! Sorry it's not a "Dreaming of You" fic but I just couldn't think of any ideas, and this kinda popped up. Don't expect the quality of "Dreaming" with this one. Nevermind. Just read.
In the Still of The Night
The Gryffindor common room was dim, and the light of the fireplace sent pulsating waves across the walls. Everyone in the Gryffindor house was asleep that night except for two.
Hermione Granger couldn't sleep, she had a massive Herbology test tomorrow that she was sure she going to fail. So she picked up her book, "Mystical Plants and Their Uses", and trudged down stairs, dreaming of the overstuffed chair in front of the fireplace.
Harry Potter woke with a start. He had been dreamin...no having a nightmare, about the night his parents died. Knowing he wouldn't sleep tonight, the shaken boy crept down stairs, angry frightened tears ran from his eyes. This 16 year old boy-who-lived had tears to spare.
As Hermione walked out into the room she saw Harry standing across from her, a scared, stricken look on his face. The sorrow marks on his face reflected the dancing light of the fireplace, stopping for on moment on his bright green eyes full of tears. Oh, how she ached for him!! A soul could only endure so much pain alone. She wished she could rush to him, pull him into her arms and tell him that everything would be okay. But instead she took a few tentative steps and stopped, looking up into his eyes, holding her breath.
In that second, with Hermione's eyes on him, Harry's resolve crumbled, and he stumbled to her. "I need her tonight", he thought, "what happens tomorrow doesn't matter, I just need her now".
Hermione was dumbstruck as Harry crashed into her, wrapping his arms around her, great sobs shaking his body until she was sure he would fall apart. As his crying calmed he began to speak in a quavering voice, "Hermione - so sorry - had a dream - my parents - Voldemort - so sorry- needed you - please...", as he began to cry again.
Hermione him over to the chair in front of the fireplace, and sat down, with him still shuddering in her arms. "It's okay Harry, shhh, its okay - He said he needed me!! - I'm here". She rocked back and forth stroking his smooth hair.
Harry quieted and his breathing became less haggard. He lifted his head, looking into Hermione's warm chocolate eyes. He reached out, tucking a piece of her soft brown hair behind her ear. "Thanks, Hermi", he said in a small voice.
"It's okay Harry, that's what friends are for", she answered, "If he touches my face again I think I might die", she thought to herself. The fire had died down, and the embers cast little light.
She felt Harry shift, and his face was level with hers. Warm breath slid across her cheeks as Harry drew near. His hand cupped her cheek and a rush of adrenaline coursed through her veins. "Thanks", Harry said, "for everything", just a touch of humor in his voice, as they kissed, discovering a new facet to thier friendship, in the still of the night.
Eeek!! I am still so very new to this so give me a break!! I would love you forever if you took 2 seconds and reviewed this. Even if you just write one word it would mean a lot to me. Thanks
