Natasha squinted the minute she was exposed to the light of the warm Californian summer sun.
"First day of summer, great" she mumbled sarcastically to herself.
Natasha wasn't a fan of the summer break, or "yearly hell break" as she usually referred to it as.
For Natasha summer wasn't all beaches and strawberry ice cream, it was all about staying with her dad in Italy.
Not that she hated her dad or anything, but it was just that guy who lived next door to him, the one who would never make contact with Natasha or even have the decency to force a small "hello". This "guy" wasn't really your typical Italian dream guy either, his hair was a mop of golden blonde, his skin clear and pale and she could never quite decide whether his eyes were a strange shade of green or a pale shade of blue.
The whole "shy boy" thing didn't work for Natasha either, if she wanted a guy she went for it, though usually the guy chased her first.
Natasha wasn't the prettiest girl in her class, but she had glossy dark curls and a bubbly personality to match. Plus she held a perfectly average B grade in all subjects. Natasha was the kind of girl who just had things panning out nicely for her, until every summer of course.
But Natasha told herself this summer was going to be different, this summer she was going to get this guy to talk to her even if it took the whole two months, but unknown to Natasha this summer wasn't going to be like the others, this summer was going to be unpredictable…
