Chapter One

The high walls of Solitude would make me feel safe as a child when Mother would take us to the capital. She would leave us to wonder the city with the other Nordic children before rushing off in the castle doors. It took me a while to find out why the dark haired nord would leave a hush whisper in the air when we entered down and why the elders were so fond of her compared to the other residents.

When I had asked my Father about Mother's past, his eyes darken at the thought and replied that fighting was in my blood. Both from her side and his own. That might have been the idea I had when I had stepped on the same boat I am on now to be shipped off to a island full of elves.

Solitude had this air of empowerment to it that only my people have when they lay eyes on the large city. The city itself brought tears to my eyes as it was a sign of coming back home. Although I am unsure where home really is now.

It was safe to say that High Elf beside me felt the opposite way. Hinve's golden eyes darken at the sight of the snowy land as his sharp nose and cheek bones dust with red from the harsh winds. I do not blame him from the hate in his heart that he had for my homeland. Skyrim and her people has grown bitter to High Elves over the years. Mother had calmed the nation as best she could with the Drummers and other species, but every still held hate for Hinve's kind.

I had stop sending letters a few months ago when things got too out of hand at the school, so I am unsure how the High King is or what is thoughts of outsides. But if I knew King Ulfric, he had a head as thick as a sea lion's skin.

I looked over to the Illusion mage beside me and held my breath for a long speech that he would give before we set off a quest as if we were going to war. (Yet now it seemed that idea was hanging on a very thin thread.) Hinve just let out his own tired sigh before slowly turning his head my way. We were almost the same height, so it was not hard for his own eyes to find my own. "Get ready to dock," He started to walk away from the side railing and below ship to but on his robes. "We have a long night ahead of us."

The capinten waved me up to the boat's wheel when I can out from below deck, my blue robes flying rappley in the strong winds. "You have changed a lot little Miss,"

The Argonian looked at me through his one good eye. His left one had a leather stip lazley hanging on top of it as if he had just awoke from a drunken haze. Something that is not as far-fetched as one might think. "Aye, I can remember when you only knew how to trip on ye pants."

I rolled my eyes and threaded the golden hem of the robe through my long fingers. "I also remember you were so drunk you though we had say a sea serpent. Only to have it be a piece of seaweed floating in the water." I made a waving motion with my arms as a giggle left my lips.

The lizard chucked heartedly and shook his head. "A sailor has to keep 'is eyes peeled. How do you think I lost my favorite eye?"

"A bar fight?"

"Aye, but that is not the point Miss."

I would have stayed longer if it was not for another Argonian, this time a female, jumped on board when the trading ship was close enough to the wooden dock. Her red and white scales darken from the lack of sunlight as Captain walked down the three steps to bargain with his own brethren.

Hinve had come from below deck in time for the crew to toss the rope on the dock. "Elissa," He called my name as I walked over to him (this time being careful to trip on the long cloth around my body), "The carriage is ready to take us into city."
