"Love for the Game"

Disclaimer: Disney owns them, I do not.

Guy Germaine and Connie Moreau were more than your average high school sweethearts. No, they were so much more than that. They were the best of friends, they were lovers and best of all they were teammates. Now , I know what you're thinking how can that be? Well guess what it just happens to be that way. It started many years before when they were about 9 years old. You could say that it was a happy accident, but I think we all know better than that. It was fate.
Guy was walking home from his school in St. Paul, Minnesota one day when he happened upon a flyer for peewee hockey tryouts. It seemed that District 5 was looking for some fresh new talent and he figured why not; he liked hockey. For him that day was the beginning of his life. The beginning of a whole new life for him, one he would be sharing with another. He dragged himself out to the pond in Minneapolis that Saturday after and happened upon a group of kids and of course there were none that he knew. Guy was a fairly shy kid and preferred to keep to himself. so that's exactly what he did. He skated around the ice occasionally shooting his puck at the goal until WHAM! he was hit hard and landed with a thud on the ice. When he looked up to see what had happened he saw a figure standing over him, talking to the others. He couldn't really hear what they were saying, but he did hear one thing; a name, Connie. Yes, that's right one of the others had called this person Connie although he wasn't quite sure what to think until she removed her helmet and helped him up. She kindly introduced herself as well as the others that were there with her. It was obvious that they were friends and although this was just the type of situation that would make him feel nervous he wasn't. He realized that he was feeling a whole different emotion altogether, one that he wasn't used to and certainly didn't know what it was.
But that was then and he had grown up a lot since then, but she was right there with him. She became his best friend and by far one of the few people that could and would still quick his ass on occasion. But he didn't mind. He didn't even mind all the teasing and harassment he got from the others who , not surprisingly, had become his very good friends. He didn't mind because as much as they liked to tease him about the fact that a girl could kick his ass, he knew and they knew that she could just as easily if not more easily kick their asses as well. He couldn't help but silently chuckle as he remembered. Plus at least he got to go home with her and they did not. She was his girl and although he wouldn't admit it she was what he loved about the game.
