One Summer Evening

A warm summer breeze whispered through the overgrown grass of the fields behind the Weasley's garden. Riding the soothing current was the familiar smell of sweet grass and honeysuckle, two smells that Harry had grown to love over the years. The scents made him feel at home, as if the Burrow was where he was meant to be, and Harry truly believed that he belong there with the Weasleys. They were his family, and not just because Ron and him were married. The Weasley's had always treated him as if he was part of their clan, and that bond had been strengthened over years of hardship. Having a marriage certificate just made everything official. Though, Harry didn't need a piece of paper to tell him where he belonged.

A spectacular show of stars glittered overhead as the couple moved further into the rustling fields. It was Harry's twenty-fifth birthday and his friends had gathered at the Burrow to celebrate the occasion. It had been a long evening for everyone, filled with plenty of drinking, eating, and dancing. But, as the evening started to dwindle, Harry and Ron stole away from the festivities for a breather.

They walked in a comfortable silence for quite some time. Surrounding them was all of the beautiful smells of summer, the crickets chirping in a constant thrum, and the odd croak of a bullfrog from the nearby pond. Harry and Ron were so captivated by the beauty of the night, that they didn't hear Hermione as she hastily approaching them. It wasn't until she drew up beside them that they realized she was even there.

"Boys, I have been looking all over for you. I have something that I need to tell you." Hermione said urgently after catching her breath.

The trio stopped walking. It was obvious by the tone of her voice that whatever she had to say, it was clearly something of importance to her. Concerned, Harry said, "What is it Hermione, what's the matter?"

"Today I found out that the insemination took. You're both going to be parents!" Hermione blurt out enthusiastically.

"Are you sure Hermione? You're really pregnant?" Harry murmured quietly, his heart racing at the possibility.

Hermione was only able to nod her head before both of them engulfed her in their arms. Together, they stood beneath the twinkling stars, holding onto each other, and laughing through tears of joy.
