Greetings reader. My name is Yami no Nokutan and I thank you for choosing my story The Legend of Zelda: Fallen Hero. This is the very first Legend of Zelda story I have ever written. If you have suggestions or wish to voice an opinion about anything about this story, please note that I would take it into complete consideration. I hope you enjoy the journey. ;)

[Re-Edited: 12/2/2014]

Summary: There is a story people tell that speaks of a boy. Legend knows him as a hero. It fortells an ancient prophecy about six sages and a princess, that were ruled under an evil king. The hero embarks on a grand quest with sword in hand to seal away the evil forever. Peace seemed to have come at least. But they were all deceived. Our hero is tested when he returns to rule once again. Blades will bleed! Shields will shatter! When the light fades will the hero rise again? Or will darkness reign?

Disclaimer: I do not own Legend of Zelda. Also Chyannethewolf gets complete credit for the summary used above.

-Prologue-

The young Hero of Time named Link grabbed the Master Sword that Princess Zelda had signaled for him to grab. It began to glow, once Link retrieved it. He then returned to the area where a somewhat wounded Ganon stood. The wall of fire appeared around them both and Link felt himself inhaled a deep breath.

Link could feel the heat from the flames surround his body. He momentarily placed the Master Sword in his sheath, only to pull out his arrows. Ganon stood before him with two enormous swords. Link showed no fear when he launched one of Princess Zelda's light arrows at the monster. Ganon appeared stunned and was unable to move to defend himself. Link reacted by not wasting time. He pulling out his Master Sword and began to slash Ganon's tail. He would roll away as Ganon turned towards him. Then he ran towards Ganon, before rolling under him again, missing the two swords by mere inches. Link continued to slash Ganon's tail when he had the chance. He saw Ganon trembled and his eyes widen. He rolled out of harm's way when Ganon fell forward. Suddenly a beam of light hit Ganon. The enormous monster let out a huge roar. It clearly caused him great pain. He then turned his attention to Princess Zelda.

"I'm using my power to hold the Evil King! You use your sword and deliver the final blow." Zelda shouted at him. After she unleashed her power, she placed her right hand over her chest to catch her breath. The Master Sword began to glow a brilliant blue. Link smiled to himself and began to deliver death blows to Ganon. Link finished the battle with the Master Sword shoved into the middle of Ganon's forehead.

In anger and pain, Ganon roared. The ground beneath Link and Zelda shook furiously, as they both struggled to retain their balance. Link took a few steps away from Ganondorf and began to make his way to Zelda. He swore long ago that he would protect her.

Zelda looked up the sky. "Six Sages... Now!" She screamed with all her might. She then raised her arms to the sky, and a white light formed between her hands. Then she fell to the ground on her knees and hands. Princess Zelda was happy that the battle with the King of Evil was now over. She was finally able to reclaim her throne. She felt Ganondorf's presence now fading away, as he was becoming sealed in the Evil Realm, by the ancient sages.

When they were alone, Zelda looked at Link with a small smile.

"Thank you, Link.." she began in a soft tone. "Thanks to you, Ganondorf has been sealed inside the Evil Realm! Thus, peace will once again return in the world...for a time." She looked down feeling shamed. She closed her eyes. "All the tragedy that has befallen Hyrule was my doing...I was so young...I could not comprehend the consequences of trying to control the Sacred Realm. I dragged you into it, too."

"I understand why you did what you did," Link whispered. Zelda raised her head, slightly surprised. Link gave her a gentle smile. Zelda blushed prettily at the handsome hero. Although she was the Princess and he was the hero, everything between them remained on the friendship level.

Zelda nodded, before she continue. "Now it's time for me to make up for my mistakes...You must lay the Master Sword to rest and close the Door Of Time..."

Link realized exactly what she was saying. He would be able to become a young boy again and that he would be able to live his life that way she should. Link let out a soft sigh, as Zelda continued.

"However, by doing this, the road between times will be closed..." Then Zelda extended her hand out to Link. "Link, give the ocarina to me..As a Sage, I can return you to your original time with it. " Link appeared stunned as he looked at the precious ocarina in his hand. He gently placed it in her hand. Then she placed her right hand over it.

As she raised her eyes to look at Link, she let a soft gasp. Link looked up at her in shock, as she was engulfed by a bright light. Navi seemed to have vanished into the light. Link covered his eyes with his arm. When it faded, he looked at the Princess. She looked a bit stunned, but nothing out the ordinary. Link was about to ask her what happened, when he felt the ground around them both begin to shake. He got in front of Zelda and pulled out the Master Sword. Behind him, Zelda let out a monstrous laugh, which caused Link to jumped away and face her.

"What in the world..." was all he could utter, before her laughter stopped and she stared at Link with wide, crazy eyes. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he had a feeling he was about to find out. Link took a step away from her. He raised his sword to her.

The Princess simply raised a brow. "You dare raise the sword at me? Are you honestly going to strike me?" She approached the green-clad hero, raising a hand. Electricity formed in her closed fist. Link's eyes widen, as he back flipped out of the way. She was truly trying to attack him? After everything he did for her and her kingdom, but why would she do such a thing? Link grunted, looking at her. "You dare to betray me? The boy with the noble fairy Navi, that same boy grew into a man, and dare to betray me, his Princess." Link stared at her unable to fathom where these accusations were coming from. His sapphire eyes were filled with horror and disbelief. Strands of his golden hair framed the sides of his horror filled face.

"What are you talking about?" The young man demanded, as he looked at Zelda. "I would never did any such thing, your majesty." Zelda threw back her head and laughed. Her laughter was so cold, it made Link shiver. He took a few steps back, as he held his sword up.

"Do not think of me as a fool, peasant," Zelda narrowed her eyes at him. Link stared at her with complete shock. "I know of your true motives. I heard you discussing your plans." She wiped a tear that fell. "Once you defeated Ganondorf, you were planning on overthrowing me. You were simply using me, weren't you? Just you can get your hands on the crown? I thought we were friends."

Link seemed completed dumbfounded. "Your majesty, we are the best of friends. I beseech you. I would never even dream of overthrowing you or trying to claim the throne for myself." Link stared at her, as his confusion continued to grow. "I never even discussed such a thing. I wasn't going to take your kingdom from you. I was trying to save it for you."

"Do not lie to me," Zelda snapped her fingers. They both heard multiple footsteps approaching. The door opened with a loud bang and her guards appeared. "You must be taught a lesson." She looked at two of her guards. They nodded to their princess. Then they approached the confused and stunned hero. They each grabbed one of Link's arms in such a harsh manner, it caused the young teen to cry out in pain. In his shock, the master sword fell from his grasp. He tried to pull away from them, as their tightened their grip. They forced him to his knees, as a third guard came into view. The guard smiled at the Princess, as she waved her hand in a motion to continue. Link was perplexed.

'What on earth? She would allow them to punish me? But what have I done?' Link thought to himself. "I'm innocent. Please, your majesty..I have never done anything against you or the crown."

Zelda rolled her eyes. "I can sense your lies." She looked at the guard near and motioned for him to proceed.

"What...I ..." His voice was cut short, as the fist made contact with his mouth. Link coughed, when the wind had been knocked out. Then the third guard smiled wickedly at Link and then began to pounding his fists against Link's chest and his face. Then after a few minutes, the other two soldiers joined in. They both began to kick Link's legs, so he couldn't hold his own weight, or even try to fight back. The blond hero took their full out assault. The only sound that left his lips were grunts of pain. One of the guards continuously kicked his right leg. Link felt the bone snap, holding back a scream of pain. The other guard who was holding him pulled out a dagger and shoved it into Link's side. The scream Link was holding back exploded from his lips. The guard then pulled it out, only to strike a different spot on his side.

His body trembled in pain. The young teen then raised his sapphire pain filled eyes at Zelda. Those eyes, those expressive eyes, held hate at the young woman before him. He was always loyal to her, but now that loyal was soiled. Link bit down on his lip, when one of the guards punched him squarely in the face. Blood dribbled down from his nose and on the edges of his mouth. The only sound that came out of him was grunts, as he continued to take the full on beating. Zelda approached the bloody teen, as the guards released him from their grip. He fell to the ground in a heap, shuddering and slightly whimpering in pain. One of the soldiers grabbed a fist full of that golden blond hair, which was now soaked in crimson liquid. She raised her hand and struck the teen in the face with all her strength. Link felt his consciousness slipping drastically.

"Throw him outside the Castle Walls and into Hyrule Field. He is to leave and never return," she whispered in a harsh voice. "He is now banished."

Link felt darkness engulf him, as he fell limp on the ground. Then one of the guards picked up the unconscious hero and placed him in another guard's arms. A young man entered the scene, watching with extreme shock, as Link was being carried out. The young man was named Tay. He watched Link's limp body disappear around the corner. He then turned to stare at his Princess Zelda, amazing to see her there. He bit down in his lower lip, thinking what happened and more so, is she the one who allowed Link to be beaten so harshly?

The darkness fell over the of Hyrule like a dark veil. A young teen named Colin was riding a horse while returning to Castle Town, after learning of Ganondorf's defeat. He saw a few soldiers throwing a person to the ground, before returning back in the direction of the Castle. Colin rode his foal closer to the unconscious person. He waited a few minutes looking at the person, trying to figure out what they did to receive such a beating and who ordered it. His eyes widen in horror. Was this unconscious teen before him his friend Link? Colin jumped off his horse. Then he pulled Link into his arms, inspecting him quickly. He was clearly beaten very badly, but by who and why? He whistled for his horse to get closer. She got down, as Colin managed to place Link on top of his horse. Then he mounted her from behind, directing her towards Lon Lon Ranch. It took him nearly an hour, but he managed to get Link there. He gently placed him down in front of the door. It was the middle of the night, and he knew Malon and Talon would probably be asleep. He pounded on the door as loud as he could, before he retreated in the dark of the night. His horse was waiting calmly for him. He mounted her and hurried back towards Hyrule Castle. A single thought replayed in his mind, 'Help him, please.'
