"So what're you doing Rune?"
Rune looked up from the notes he was making and slammed his book shut. Ginny jumped back, but inched back forward when Rune smiled up at her warmly.
"Creating a new spell...I think." Rune said as he readjusted his silver rimmed sunglasses. "Would you like to take a look?"
Ginny took the notebook from him, but Rune laughed as she turned it around in her hands as though she weren't sure where to start reading. When she had obviously had enough, she handed it back to him. "Well, it...er...it looks great Rune."
Rune laughed as he stood and dusted the dirt off of his robe. "C'mon, we'll be late to Charms class. I'll explain it to you on the way." He held out his arm to her making Ginny's ears go pink. "Shall we?"
Ginny nodded and grabbed his arm allowing Rune to lead her to class. From the first time she ever saw him, Ginny knew she was in love. But, then again, she was certain that almost every girl, even the Slytherin ones, felt the same. Rune was smart, funny, cute, friendly, out-spoken, and bold. He got along with both student and teacher alike. Whenever she walked with him, she felt like she was the envy of everyone. Ginny wasn't even sure how she had ever lived without him. He had only been there for two years and already he was the most popular kid in school.
Of course, not everyone was as happy Rune was there as Ginny was. Three seventh years in particular seemed to have something against him. All three of them, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, all said the same thing: "You ever heard of too good to be true? There's something shady about him. We don't trust him. You better be careful." Ginny passed it off as jealousy. Of course they were jealous, even Ginny had to admit that she got jealous sometimes when the teachers or other students paid him extra attention. But she actually told Rune that.
Something about Rune did bother her though. There were times when he would just stare off towards the lake. When he did that, no one was able to talk to him for at least an hour. She always wondered what he thought about when he did that. But, in his very Rune-like way, he would just smile, push his sunglasses further up on his nose, and say something like, "Oh, nothing really. Just stuff." Even still, Ginny couldn't wait until summer. After a year of begging, they finally agreed to have Rune stay over during the holiday.
