She could hear Ron and Harry's voices calling her name from the cellar below, and she was so proud of them for hanging on to what is left.

Was that her screaming?

It hurt, a lot.

Who knew that cutting yourself would hurt so much? When people describe it, it seemed so beautiful. The edge of the knife, glimmering in the candlelight as it slowly enters your skin, breaking your barriers of mixed emotions, fully letting you weep out your own misguiding thoughts on the world.

Wait, she wasn't cutting herself. It was some woman with black hair.

Strange.

It was then she noticed a boy with platinum blonde hair.

He looked familiar.

He looked scared, disgusted even.

Her eyes widened when the pain increased tenfold as the Cruciatous curse was placed on her body.

Finally, she snapped out of it. It was hard to believe she was on the verge of losing her sanity, but she refused to. Not to Bellatrix Lestrange, or any other person. She bit her lip hard, keeping her wails in.

The boy looked shocked.

The boy looked sorry.

The boy was Draco Malfoy.

Why was he here? To watch as she neared death, only to be brought back to life under the full contributing pain that would never go away? Wait; there was a man behind him.

Draco was next.

Now she knew why.

Harry and Ron escaped, leaving her behind with sorry glances. Hermione felt so forgotten, every fiber in her body screamed in despair. Dobby helped them, and for that, she was thankful. They thought Draco sent the elf.

Dumb asses .

The hard curse of Crucio kept pounding against her body, even though Bellatrix was facing Draco.

Ever since she was born the pages of life opened for Hermione Granger.

She felt her eyes droop.

The pages of a book.

Was this how it ended? With a brave, kind girl and a lost, frightened boy dying in the same room?

It was a lovely story, full of adventure, romance, and comedy.

Obviously.

Too bad the story will be ending soon, and the crisp, torn pages of the book start to close.

And idea came into her mind just then.

I sent the elf before we left the safety of our tents. He knows whenever we are in trouble.

She confessed a lie, a life threating, and horrid lie- and now she would pay the price.

Of course, even under the Cruciatous curse….helping someone felt good.

While he might not be the nicest boy ever, he was lost, and as much as she hated to admit it…worth it.

As she screamed she noticed the terror and confusion if his eyes.

It's hard to be the hero, so hard that you want to let go.

A small smile reached her lips. Harry will succeed, Ron will be safe, Draco will be saved. Sacrifices have to be made.

So if you ever get the chance...

So instead, the green light from the tip of the mad woman's wand was directed towards her, instead of Draco.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Save a Life.
