Disclaimer: I don't own them, they belong to ER and whoever makes that.
Pairing: Abby/Neela (of sorts)
Rating: PG
Abby stood in the ambulance bay, arms hugging herself in a pitiful attempt to ward off the Chicago winter night, longing for the jacket she'd decided against, trying to ignore her craving for a smoke, breath fogging out around her.
She glanced in the direction of the diner opposite in time to see Neela trudging purposefully back towards the ER.
She stopped up short when she reached Abby's side, offering a steaming polystyrene cup of coffee to her, which Abby reflexively accepted, hands meeting briefly around the cup.
"Don't stay out too long, okay? It's bloody freezing!" said Neela, her hands, still warm from the coffee cup now in Abby's grasp, brushing against Abby's bare arms as she looked at her, before going inside.
"I won't" she replied to Neela's retreating form, clutching the warm cup to her, a bemused smile at Neela's concern quirking her lips as she took a sip, before following her friend inside.
Nothing special, sometimes it's just nice to know that someone sincerely cares about Abby, even if it is only in fiction, and all in your head.
