Hanamaru was an angel. She had always been one, but she hadn't been very productive. Her job had always been to lead humans on to the path, the one that lead to heaven, but she had never managed to do anything of the sort. Her peers seemed to look down on her, but only slightly. No one could really hate a fellow angel after all. Still, after all this she thought that maybe, just maybe, she didn't belong up here. Maybe she belonged down there, with the humans and their materialistic way of doing things. Maybe she should go there, she thought. She quickly tried to silence the idea. She wasn't allowed to go down there by herself, after all. But, she still wanted to go. And with that, a strange longing settled inside her.

Hanamaru stared at the world beneath her. Maybe, she thought, that would quell her apparent need to actually go down there. After looking around for a few moments, she settled her gaze on a dark haired female, who had a bun on one side of her head, although not the other. If Hanamaru had been human, she would have been around the same age as the girl. The girl looked around, seemingly nervous. She came to a deserted area, and there the female stopped. Hanamaru watched, curious, as the girl on Earth pulled things out of a bag. Candles, a fancy rug, a lighter, a spell book, so many other demonic items. Why would a human need all these things? Was she preparing for a ritual of some sort? Hanamaru wasn't sure, but even the sight of these items scared her. It soon became obvious that the girl was going to perform a summoning. It didn't matter who she was trying to summon, this wouldn't end well.

Hanamaru took a moment to consider her options. She would surely be punished if she didn't at least try to stop the human, but she technically wasn't allowed to go down by herself. Yet, this could be a chance to actually do something her people would like. She could go down there and help the girl out, as well as help her get to heaven. She thought for too long, it seemed, and her decision making turned frantic as the girl prepared to start her ritual. Once it began, there was no stopping her. In one final burst of desperation, the angel made her decision.

"Yoshiko-chan?" Hanamaru said as she stepped out of the shadows she had appeared in. "What are you doing, zura?"

Said dark haired girl froze slightly. "N-Nothing really, Zuramaru. You can just move along and let me do my fallen angel work."

The brown haired angel sighed slightly, for her mind manipulation had worked. It was just as if they had been childhood friends. Then, she realized Yoshiko was still waiting for her to move on. "I'd rather not let you finish, zura. Let's go hang out, okay?" she said with a dazzling smile.

Yoshiko let out a sigh, before turning to face her friend. "Fine..." she sighed, clearly annoyed, as she began to pack up her summoning equipment. After she had it all packed up, she turned to Hanamaru. "Well, are we going or what?"

With another smile, Hanamaru lead an annoyed Yoshiko away.

It it wasn't until much later that the angel attempted to go back to heaven. When she tried, however, she couldn't. She looked up to heaven, up at her God, and suddenly she understood. She had been given a mission, to protect that one, the one called Yoshiko. With another smile, this one sad but hopeful, she turned and went along her way. From now on, she was a guardian angel, never to reveal her powers, always watching. From now on, she would be Hanamaru Kunikida. From now on, she would have a purpose.
