Dying in your Arms

Aro arched forward into his fighting crouch. This was it. It was over. I clutched Edward's hand with all my might, knowing he would feel it now. I glanced over at Jacob, who had Renessme, and he whimpered. Renessme had tears in her eyes.

"Take care of her, Jacob." I said mostly to myself, but I knew he could hear.

Renessme reached for me, but I shook my head. There was nothing I wanted more than to hold my baby girl, but I knew that Jacob would have to start running very soon.

While the rest of us were dying.

I looked up at Edward, who was looking at me, too.

"Bella." He started, a look of pure sadness on his beautiful face. He tried to fight back dry sobs.

"Edward, I love you." I said, holding him tightly to me. I felt a little bit of comfort when he wrapped his arms around me, too.

"You have no idea how much I love you too, Bella." He said. I could hear the pain in his voice.

I shook my head.

"So this is the end, isn't it?" I asked, knowing what the answer would be. I just wanted to hear it.

Edward tightened his hold on me. I knew what that meant. We were all as good as dead. We would all fall. We would all die.

"I'm scared." I said, crying no tears into his chest.

"I am too, Bella." He said, bringing my face up to his.

"It's the end, Edward. There is no hope for us."

"There is always hope."

"Look at them, Edward. They're ready to kill us all."

"Bella, just calm down. Shield us. Don't worry about anyone but yourself. Jacob will get Renessme out of here, and she will be fine. My daughter will be safe, and now I want the most important thing in my life safe, too." His voice cracked at the last word.

"I will worry about you." I said.

"Don't."

"I have to." I poked back. "You are the most important thing to me, too. I will keep you safe for as long as I can."

"Bella..."

"No, Edward. Just you and me." I said. I closed my eyes tight, trying to erase everything else in my mind.

Then I felt his cool hands on my face.

"You and me." He repeated, then pressing his lips to mine with the love and passion that could have set us on fire.

And with that fire, we would never die. It was just the three of us. Edward, Renessme, and I. No Volturi, no killing, no misunderstandings.

No anything but us.

We heard Aro's fierce and nasty hiss come from across the field. I heard Renessme cry in fear, and Jacob growl in protection.

I was going to fight, wither it killed me or not.

Edward's lips parted from mine. He still held me to him lovingly, protectively, sadly. He turned us to face Aro and his team just in time to see them pounce in our direction.

All I felt was pain. Nothing but pain. I felt claw-like fingers digging and fangs penetrating into my skin. I heard nothing but growls and hisses and screams.

But somehow, through all the digging and biting, I felt something else. I felt strong, and unbreakable arms around me. Edward's strong and unbreakable arms.

It was amazing, that through all of this, he could still hold me.

And even though our end was near, we knew that Renessme was safe with Jacob, running through the woods, getting away.

Suddenly, all my pain went away. Nothing else mattered to me but Edward.

Edward.

"Bella." He managed to say. He was weak, yet as strong as nails. "I love you."

It was then, as we faced our death together, we figured out that as long as we stayed together, we would continue to live.

And that dying in each others arms was the best way to die.

I really hope that you people like it! it was a book report (which I got an A on!!) and I never really thought about putting it on fanfiction. but i did!! I HOPE YOU ALL LOVED IT!! R&R please!!
