The criminal edged slowly along the wall, as Starsky inched closer, his heart hammering, and his gun trained on the suspect, who suddenly turned as if to make a run for it.
"Freeze turkey!" yelled Starsky, gesturing menacingly with the gun.
Where is Hutch? I sure could use some backup here.
There was the sound of footsteps approaching and a few seconds later Hutch let himself in the front door, took one look at Starsky, who had his gun in one hand and a shoe in the other, and burst into laughter.
"Hutch, thank God you're here!" breathed Starsky.
"Starsk, why are you holding a spider at gunpoint?" Hutch strode into the kitchen and retrieved a glass and a sheet of paper, then calmly scooped up the spider and let it out of the window.
Returning, he shook his head at Starsky fondly. "Mushbrain. Here, have a beer."
"Yeah, I need it after that!"
"Starsk, it was just a spider!"
Starsky was looking embarrassed. "You wouldn't be so calm about it if the tarantula was in your apartment!"
"It wasn't that big!"
The teasing continued over beer, pizza and Monopoly. Several beers later and Starsky was in a talkative mood.
"You saved me today Hutch. You're my best friend" he slurred, giving Hutch a giant smile.
Hutch, who was not quite so intoxicated, grinned at him.
"Anytime, dummy."
This idea occurred to me after watching the episode Satan's Witches, when I thought that Starsky was probably scared of spiders!
