Yang Xiao Long had graduated from Beacon Academy when Shao Kahn's forces invaded her realm, she remembered how his armies butchered her people and she remembered it was her sister's birthday. It was supposed to be a day of joy but she felt anything but happy. She was then resurrected by Shang Tsung as one of his creations and was given the enhanced senses of a demon, able to sense deceased souls. She was also given edenian long life, as more of a curse than a blessing, she also was given a taste for decaying flesh. She was to be a servant in the flesh pits who helped find stray souls and consume unneeded spare parts. She eventually escaped after another creation later named Meat left prematurely and left the door open.

When Blaze was finally vanquished and exploded in a burst of flame, Yang became a goddess of fire who with Shao Kahn gone became the new ruler of Out-world. She restored her people and ruled as their beautiful queen, and finally she was reunited with her sister.
