"Chapter One"

Atop of a cliff, with the wind strongly blowing in, a figure stood. The stranger wore a long black coat with a grey sash around his waist. The being wore a head which made it difficult to identify them. In the distance, a sign which read "Beach City" could be seen. Well, for the stranger, that is. From the top of the cliff, the person jumped down, summoning a katana as they fell. They stabbed it to the side, slowing his descent. When they reached the bottom, they straightened out their coat and dispersed their weapon. The person walked down the road, a few cars passing by them. When they reached the sign for the town, they stopped in their tracks. "Beach City," a deep male voice said, "This is where they were last said to be. Surely I can find some clues about their whereabouts if they are no longer here."

He continued on down the road, entering the town. It was a small community, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find his targets. The sea could be heard crashing against the shore and the seagulls cried high overhead. However, he knew he couldn't let the scenery be a distraction for him. He must find them. His first stop was this little shop that had a giant donut on the roof. He entered the building and saw two people working the counter: a short blond girl and a tall boy with gaps in his ears. The girl, hearing the door bell ring, stood up almost immediately from the sound. "Can I help… you," she paused as she stared up at the rather tall gentleman. He looked down at her then at the boy, who was sound asleep on the job. "I am looking for a certain group. It was said that this was there last known location. Perhaps you can provide me with some information." After he finished speaking, the boy woke up, falling back from his seat. "Whoa! Who the heck are you," the boy demanded. The tone struck the stranger as disrespectful. He removed his hood, revealing snow-white hair, blood red eyes, and dark grey skin. He slightly bent down to eye level with the disrespectful employee, not saying a word. Beads of sweat went down the boy as he sat back down. "L-Look, mister, we are more than happy to h-help you with whatever y-you need. Just, please, don't cause a ruckus," said the girl. "Then I think you shouldn't be here for when I find them. Now, tell me, where can I find the Crystal Gems?" The name surprised the two, not knowing what business he had with the Gems. "W-Why do you need to know," the girl asked. "That is my business. I have heard that they are guardians for humans. So, tell me," he paused as he picked the two up by the collar, "how loud do you have to scream before they come to your aide?" They struggled to free themselves of his grasp, tears began to fill up in the males eyes. Underneath all the struggling, the bell could be heard again. The sound caught all three of their attentions, and at the entryway stood a boy with curly hair. He was humming a song, but when he saw what was happening, the song ceased. "S-Steven," the girl gasped. "Lars? Sadie," the boy cried, "Let go of my friends!" In a pink flash, Steven had a shield by his side, charging at the stranger. The figure dropped the two and turned his attention to Steven, Steven's shield surprising him. He stepped to the side to avoid the shield. "That shield," he asked, "That is Rose Quartz's, yes?" "My… my mom? How do you know my mom?" This was no time to answer the questions. He summoned his katana and swung at the boy. He didn't care if it was a child, he was going to get answers. "Tell me, kid, where are the Crystal Gems?"
