Another Gold Star
"Daddy, me got another gold star." Jasmine said as she raced excitedly to where Nick was standing on the playground after school.
"Jasmine, come back sweetheart, what did you forget to do?" Mrs. Rice called after her.
Jasmine looked at Nick for help, she didn't know what she forgot to do. Nick wasn't much help, he didn't know either.
Jasmine ran back to her teacher.
"Me bad?" Jasmine asked her teacher confusedly.
"No sweetie but you forgot to give me a high five and tell me your daddy was over there, you just took off." Mrs. Rice told the excited little girl.
"Me excited to see daddy." She told her teacher happily.
"I know you're excited to see him and you should be, you've got some big news to share with him, and you should be very proud of yourself for that, but you still have to tell me where you're going because if I hadn't seen you run to him, I wouldn't know where you were and I would have been very scared, ok, so just give me a hug, or a high five and you can go see your daddy." Mrs. Rice told her with a smile.
Jasmine wrapped her in a hug.
"Me see daddy." She said as she pointed at Nick.
"Good job, thank you. You have a nice weekend ok?" Mrs. Rice told her.
"Ok, me will." She said before she turned and dashed back towards Nick.
"Preston." Jackie said loudly.
A little boy that was running for his mother turned around.
"Come here." Jackie told him.
The little boy ran back towards Jackie.
"What did you forget to do bud?" Jackie asked.
"Sorry Mrs. Stokes, I see my mom." He said as he put up his hand to give Jackie a high five.
"That's twice this week you forgot to do that, you have to work on that, ok?"
"Sorry, I just get really excited to see her." The little boy explained.
"I get that, I really do, but it's really important I know where you are, so I know I didn't lose ya ok?" Jackie told him with a smile.
"Ok Mrs. Stokes. Bye, I'll see you on Tuesday."
"Where are you going to be on Monday?" Jackie asked confused.
"Oh yeah, that's what I meant, Monday."
"Oh ok, good, have a nice weekend." Jackie told him.
"Ok, thanks Mrs. Stokes, you too." He said before he once again took off to see his mom.
A lot of kids are having trouble with that rule today. Nick thought to himself with a chuckle.
"So Jazz, you got another gold star, way to go! What did you get this one for?" Nick asked Jasmine with a smile.
"Adam fall down at recess and me tell him it ok and then me take him down to see Mrs. Caldwell."
"You did? Good girl. Did Adam get hurt?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, him hurt his knee, him beedin."
"Oh, he was bleeding? That's too bad, is he ok?"
"Yeah, Mrs. Caldwell put a band aide on him, her funny, her dance."
"She danced?" Nick asked.
"Yeah her dance, and then her put on the band aid. Adam laugh, me too."
"That's good that Mrs. Caldwell made him feel better." Nick told her with a smile.
"Yeah." She agreed.
"And that was so nice of you to tell him it's ok and then take him down to the office, I'm so proud of you." Nick told his little girl.
Jasmine was so happy she nearly skipped to the car!
