Belle sobbed in her husband's arms whilr their son's coffin was lowered into the ground. Just three days prior he had been laughing with them as they ran around the yard playing. A terrible fire had taken hold of their home late that night and Belle had tried to get to her son. She could him yelling for her but the firemen had pulled her out before she could make it to the door. The entire house collapsed just moments after they had gotten Belle out claiming her son's life. She had broken down and tried get to the rumble that used to be her home but the firemen held her tight. Rumple had arrived back to find his wife sobbing loudly in Archie's arms who had been passing and saw the smoke. He looked towards where his home once was and rushed over.
"Belle, what happened? Where's Dylan?" Belle couldn't even look at him. He looked the doctor for help.
"There was a fire. The fireman grabbed Belle and brought her out. The house collapsed moments later. Dylan was inside." Rumple looked up to see a fireman carrying something covered with a sheet. He immediately knew it was his son. He took Belle from Archie and she grabbed his lapels.
"I'm so sorry Rumple. I tried. I tried to get to him but they pulled me out. I'm sorry." Rumple held her tight. A fireman came over holding something.
"I'm very sorry for your loss. I'll only be a moment then leave you to your moment. Do either of you recognize this lamp?" Belle looked and gasped.
"That's my reading lamp. Is this what started the fire?"
"Unfortunately ma'am yes. The wire was frayed and produced a spark that caught on the carpet." Belle covered her mouth her hand and Rumple grabbed her when he saw her knees were going to give out.
"It's my fault. It's my fault. I caused the fire that killed our son." Belle cried. Rumple held her and rubbed her arms.
"No Belle it isn't your fault. The sure was old and it sparked. We didn't know it was going to do that." But Belle wasn't listening. She just kept mumbling over and over again that it was her fault and nothing Rumple said could make her feel any less guilty.
"Grandpa!" Rumple turned his head and found Henry running towards him and Belle. Henry got to them and hugged his grandfather. "Mom's phone woke me up when she got the call. What happened?"
"A frayed wire caused a spark and it started a fire."
"Where's Dylan?" At this point, Emma had started walking over.
"He didn't make it out. Belle tried to get to him but the firemen pulled her out before she could. Moments after they got out, the house collapsed." Rumple explained finally letting his tears fall. Emma and Henry stayed where they were with tears falling down their own cheeks. They all sat in silence for the little boy who wouldn't get to grow up.
That was three days ago but seeing the small coffin be lowered six feet into the ground made it real for Belle. Never again would he walk through the door and freak mud all over the floor, never again would she and Rumple get to listen to his fun time with Henry, never again would she hear his laughter up in his room while Rumple performed sime magic tricks just for the child's amusement. Rumple held her tighter.
"Baelfire will watch him. He's in good hands." After the hole was covered, Belle walked over and laid her hand on the dirt.
"I miss you so much. You'll always be my baby." She turned the Neal's headstone, right next to Dylan's. "Take care of your brother for me." As she got up, two leaves blew passed her gently touching her. She will always believe it was Bae and Dylan saying they were okay and safe.
