A/N: A little something I came up with while thinking about Mycroft's assistant Anthea and the ring on Mycroft's right hand. Please R&R!
Anthea has black hair and hypnotic green eyes. She is slender and elegant with a natural grace to all of her movements. She is wearing a ring that matches Mycroft's on her right ring finger. It's a promise ring. As soon as Mycroft isn't the British Government anymore he will marry her. Anthea's birth name is Harriet Lily Potter and she is the Girl-Who-Lived, The Chosen One, and the Woman-Who-Conquered. To Mycroft, when they are alone, she is Lioness.
Most people think Anthea is just Mycroft's assistant. Some tabloids suspect a relationship or something between them. But nobody knows just how deep their feelings for each other are.
Anthea doesn't know what happened to her aunt and uncle after she told Mycroft one night when they laid curled up around each other in his bed.
Mycroft knows. There was pure burning rage when his fiancée told him what her relatives did to her. He set his best men on them and had them be delivered to an abandoned warehouse where he had his physical revenge on them before he sent them off to mental torture.
Sherlock knows about the relationship of his brother and Anthea. He doesn't know her real name or that she is a witch.
John Watson thinks that Anthea has something of a soldier about her. Sometimes, when she thinks nobody's looking there is a shadow in her eyes that speaks of deep sorrow and betrayal. But John keeps his mouth shut. Other people's secrets don't concern him.
On the day of Sherlock's suicide Anthea enters Mycroft's office and loops her arms around his neck.
"He isn't dead." She whispers into his ear. "I would have known it."
Mycroft breathes a sigh of relief, turns his head and kisses that wonderful woman he calls his.
Three years later Sherlock Holmes comes back and delivers Moriarty's right hand, Sebastian Moran, to Scotland Yard. He is rehabilitated.
Fifty years after he first took on the position Mycroft resigns and finally marries the love of his life. They retreat to a beautiful little estate at the welsh coast. There they after all have the peace they wished for. They can't have children courtesy of Bellatrix Lestrange – too bad she's already dead Mycroft thinks because he can't punish her anymore – so they adopt a few who now have a loving family.
In the end… all was well.
The End
