I Love Her

Disclaimer: I don't own Descendants. But that's cool since the show's awesome and (pops my collar) I got retweeted on their Twitter page.

Prince Ben sat on in his bedroom freshly showered. His time with Mal had seemed so magical. Then he got wet and realized the truth. He had not fallen deep in love but had been instead spelled. His parents were right and the other villain kids were probably plotting something awful. The proclamation was a joke and he needed to send them all back at once.

Yet he hadn't. Every chance given to tell his parents, King Beast and Queen Belle, he had not taken it. The kingdom was at stake yet all he could see was Mal with her mischievous eyes and rebellious purple hair. Maybe he had dated Audrey for more her looks than personality but Mal was different. She had personality to spare as well as looks that would leave you dazed for days. This girl was the full package with a wicked past to boost. At least her mother Maleficent did and a love spell did not exactly spell sweet and innocent.

But it also didn't mean she was evil either. During the entire time he was spelled she had done nothing awful to him. In fact she seemed interested only in living the life of a normal teenager. Could it be possible that this was all over a crush she had on him and not about destroying the kingdom to create a new reign of evil in honor of her heritage? He hoped so hard for that to be true.

Still he had a decision to make. The kingdom was looking to him as king soon with the coronation right around the corner. His father had made mistakes and paid the price for it. Yet his mother Belle had come along and turned a beast back into a prince. When hope seemed lost she found the strength to believe in and love a monster. Perhaps he could be the same thing for Mal.

People had expected her to be evil. Her mother, the kingdom, maybe he could be the one ray of light to help her see a different future for herself. One where she was on the side of good and got to live her life happily ever after. A life he hoped to live in with her.

"I love her." The words came out in a rush as if holding them back caused physical pain. No matter what might happen he had to risk the chance that she felt the same. He loved her the moment they met. Maybe there was some other feelings too but after they fell away and he saw the real her. The one who tried to save him despite not being able to swim…there was definitely good in her.

"I love her," Ben repeated, "and I will not give up on you Mal."
