A/N: I've started writing the next chapter in my other fic, but this popped in my head when I heard this song and I had to write it down. Enjoy!

Brown Eyed Girl

Jess smiled at the girl sitting across the table from him and ate a bite of his french toast. She looked remarkably like another girl he was still in love with, except for her eyes. She had chocolate brown eyes that were wide and always looking inquisitive. He had never thought he could love someone as much as he loved her, but he did now. It wasn't really the same, but the feelings were as deep as he ever could have imagined. When he heard the opening of a familiar song on the radio, he reached over and turned it up, a trademark smirk gracing his lips and a glint flashing in his eyes. The girl giggled, knowing what was coming. When the chorus came around, Jess began to sing along to the song, taking the girl by the hand and dancing with her around the kitchen.

"You're my brown-eyed girl. Do you remember when we used to sing…" he crooned in a loud, surprisingly in-key voice.

The girl joined in his song, amused, "sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-ti-da."

As they sang along to the song, Jess spun her around in a circle, narrowly avoiding crashing into the table. The girl smiled, she liked that he always called her his brown-eyed girl. He had always made comments on her eyes and she felt that it was a connection of sorts between them. It made her feel special and loved. She even enjoyed the fact that he would randomly break out in song, serenading her, even though he knew it was silly.

"You're such a dork, dad" she said, laughing as he once again spun her around.

"I love you, too, kiddo" he replied, letting her resume her seat and turning the radio back down as the song ended.

"What are you two doing down here? It sounds like you're trying to tear the whole house down" came a voice from the doorway.

"Hey mom! Dad was just being a total dork again 'cuz my song came on the radio" the young teenager replied.

"Oh, so it was a song and dance routine, was it? Well, at least you didn't break anything this time. Did you save me any bacon?" Rory asked with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

"Of course, we don't have a death wish" Jess answered his wife, before greeting her with a kiss.

He didn't dare mess with her when she had her withering stare going for her. Every day he was amazed at how his life had turned out. He had somehow won back the love of his life and he now had someone else he loved just as dearly, if in a different way. Jess' gaze shifted from his wife back to his daughter. Sure enough, she looked just like her mother, only she had her father's eyes. His eyes. She would always be his one and only brown-eyed girl.

A/N: And apparently I decided to channel a little bit of Harry Potter there at the end, too. I don't own that, either, in case you were wondering. Hope you liked it at least a little bit. I'll go finish Ch. 14 of my real story now…
