-Page Break-

Bree had expected to find her little brother captured by some enemy, or maybe lost and expecting them to come and rescue him, but never did she expect to find him like this.

Outside and alone, leaning against a warehouse and his heart pumping to the beat of the music.

She saw a single tear and bruising lips, product of a kiss and she wondered what the reason was for the faraway gaze in his eyes.

She knew then and there that a breach had been created between them and their genius of a brother and she would never be let in the secret Chase now kept.

And every night Chase wouldn't be in his capsule, instead sprawled on the grass of a new city staring at the stars, Marcus in his arms.

And he would compare said stars to the freckles that dusted the nose and the cheeks of the droid.

And he remembered when things were much easier, when they were to the world Chase and Marcus instead of a nameless droid and a soulless hero.

He remembered the band that never had a name and the glances they shot each other while they played and he would wonder if they could form a new band, with a name this time, but he knew those awere just dreams because he held the weight of the world and Marcus's guilt weighed him down.

Every day he would find the metal walls of the academy even more suffocating and would daydream about fresh air, glowing paint and music that ran like fire through his veins.

And the sand and the salt in the wind would make claustrophobic and he would gasp for air, willing for Marcus to be there and comfort him.

And every kiss would make him forget his family and with every caress he would wonder what kept him tied to the island.

Bree, Adam and Leo would fade into the distance as Marcus repeated the words they had told each other that night.

I love you.

I love you.

I love you.

One night was all that was needed.

One night between millions of days.

Between millions of stars.

That night was very much like the first one, blue and green paint intertwining as they danced and when Marcus whispered in his ear (I love you) all thoughts of family and training and saving the world flew away like birds free from their cage.

And that night instead of riding the hydro-loop he took Marcus's hand and new words were whispered (I trust you).

They forgot the world and the guilt and they bashed in each other's presence and no tears grazed Chase's eyes as he left behind a life of being a hero, a sibling, a mentor.

They ran and ran leaving behind them a track of paint spots that shone like stars.

Without Chase the academy crumbled like a sandcastle but they did not return.

I love you.

I love you too.
