Aearlindalë (Song of the Sea)

You call to me from far away

On this side of the great ocean

'Return to me, return today

I am the Sea so long forgotten.'

I cannot come, I am not done

With the world so green and grey

Your ling'ring cries I cannot obey

Though long to me you summon.

The woods still call my dying name

The trees still sing to me

And who can say if hearts are tame

In far lands beyond the sea?

Long ago you called to me,

And though my heart may long,

In Hither Lands my feet run free

And the trees still sing their song.

But the endless song of trees will die

Upon these mortal shores

And when their music softly fades then I

Will heed to you once more;

I will come across the Deep

Or with my dying breath

While fading softly into sleep

Will greet you first in death.
