I Live For You
I Live For You
It is said that every person has a purpose in life. Agito, however, was beginning to think this exponentially impossible. He watched all those around him find success and something to live for. Even the Agito shared a body with found joy. But the great Fang King found nothing.
To him, life was void of a true meaning. Agito went through every day without any emotion but anger. For years, he screamed at those under him and listened only grudgingly to those above him. There was no one on his own level. However, Agito was not conceited. The Fang King did not gloat and he did not show off. Nor did he try to prove himself to those who were not worth it. And there were rarely people that he thought were worth it.
On his own time, when his counterpart Akito was sound asleep, Agito would lie on the roof counting stars and watching the moon. It was on these uncommon nights that Agito showed any emotion but anger. For a while, he cried. The blue-haired Storm Rider curled into a ball and cried. It would have seemed pitiful to anyone that didn't know his pain – which was everyone.
Other times, Agito would stare at the sky and laugh with some unknown friend. He often talked to himself and occasionally sang. It was always a quiet lullaby that sent him slowly into a calming dream mode. The dreams Agito had were often intermixed with the bunnies and candy from Akito's dreams, but Agito didn't mind – they made him happy.
At least they stayed happy until Agito discovered some unwanted feelings he had for his AT team's lead – Ikki. Itsuki Minami was the spiky-haired rebel leader of Kogarasumaru. Agito couldn't stand the Crow. He was too loud, too perverted and too full of himself and cocky. And he had the striking ability to make the Fang King's head spin.
Akito was the only one who knew this. Agito could rely on his naïve counterpart to help him. But their nights were now overpowered with blood, crying and Agito 'waking up' screaming – but only in their mind did he scream. Agito knew they would go on until he confessed to Ikki what the Crow meant to him.
One particular night, the two made the mistake of falling asleep as Agito. Ikki stared in horror as the boy's hair clung to his face with sweat and tears. He watched, helplessly, as Agito cried and tossed and turned in his sleep. The Crow didn't know what to do. That is until his name escaped the Fang King's trembling lips.
"Ikki, help me," he whimpered. His damp hair hung over his eyes so Itsuki wasn't sure if he was awake. The boy turned over and the Crow saw his right eye squeezed shut in pain. "Help me! Help!" Agito's voice box released a loud shriek as he darted into an upright position. His one exposed eye flew open and tears rolled down his cheek. The boy gasped for breath and wrapped his arms around himself. Agito brought his knees up to his chest and sobbed into the thin sheet.
The Crow stood, stunned, I silence. "A-agi…to…" Words escaped him.
"D-don't l-lo-ok a-at m-me-e C-cro-ow!" Agito demanded through his cries. You can't see me so weak! The Fang King struggled to control himself. He gasped as he felt his bed's weight shift and a pair of arms wrap around him. His head was pried away from his knees and pressed to Itsuki's chest. Agito curled into a ball against Ikki and cried into the Crow's t-shirt.
This was the first time Itsuki had ever seen Agito act so human – not to mention display an emotion other than rage. He combed his fingers through the Fang King's wet hair. Agito's breathing became less erratic and his sobs quieted as Ikki held him. The Crow laid Agito on his own bed and climbed under the covers next to him. Agito's small frame still shook. Ikki hugged the boy close.
"Don't let me go, Ikki-kun," Agito mumbled weakly, fighting sleep.
"Never, Agito. I live for you," Itsuki returned. After that, the nightmares stopped.
