I watched him as he started to glimmer away into the oblivion. Hopefully in Heaven. I reached out and mindlessly grabbed Susannah, pulling her closer to me. I kissed the top of her head, realizing that I could do this now. I was alive. Again.

But I also remember my past life. Like when Mercedes and I fooled around. Or when Marta started courting. I would always remember. And when I died, I was whisked away from everything. Every last bit.

But I knew when I did die that I was here for a reason. And that very reason was in my arms. She restored me to the self I once knew. Not in the physical sense, even though that was true, too. But in my way of looking and feelings towards life were morphed with her coming. And I knew, from the first moment I saw her, I would protect her.

"Jesse," Susannah said quietly.

"Yes?" I responded just as quiet.

"I love you," she said while turning in my arms to look at me. I smiled. She then abruptly reached up and kissed me for a while until I realized where we were.

"Queirda," I said which was also translated to "we're in public, we're kissing, I was raised a gentleman, so we're going to stop". She groaned and walked towards the bench in the park where we just mediated a certain Joyce Freeman. I walked over to where she sat and hugged her while my lips lightly brushed her temple.

"You do know how much you mean to me don't you?" I asked her. She let out a small laugh and I kissed her again.

"Yes, but I really weren't such a gentleman," she said while she rested her head against my chest. My skin felt like it was ignited with fire from where her body touched mine. I sighed and rested my head on top of hers. I wished I could have felt this feeling sooner. I would give everything up just to feel this way for one minute.

"Mmm," I responded, not wanting to ruin the moment. "But don't you want me to stay?" I asked.

"So, you're saying that if I got my way, you'd leave?" she asked mockingly.

"Not entirely. You're too much to give up," I said. This caused her to laugh. I kissed her again and we both got up and started to walk.

"I do love you, you know," I said in a matter-of-fact tone. She looked up at me with her beautiful emerald eyes and I couldn't look away.

"I know," she said. I reached out and held her against my body again, breathing in the scent of her skin. And I realized that I would give everything up again, even Mercedes and our stunts or Marta and her pleas for advice, just to be like this.
