Ever since the Winter War Hitsugaya Toshiro would come to the human world every once in a while to visit Kurosaki Karin. He had few friends because of his controlled icy demeanor. Few people wanted to be with him because they all thought that he was mean and cold hearted. So when he found a friend, a true friend, he treasured them.

So, even though his visits to the living world were few, he would always come whenever his duties permitted. They would take walks, play soccer, and just enjoy other's company. She didn't have very many friends that she hung out with much besides her soccer buddies. Girls just don't understand how she could like to act like a tomboy when there were so much more important things (to them) to do like go shopping, and fixing each other's hair and makeup and stuff. And other guys are intimidated by her strength and determination. So when she could find a true friend who took her as she is, she also treasured them.

Today they were taking a walk up to the railing where Toshiro likes to come and just look at the sky. It holds so many memories for both of them. That's where they like to go to relax. They were talking about their latest sparring match. Lately Toshiro had taken it upon himself to teach her kendo so she'd be able to defend herself if needed to, and to help her advance herself in the Seireitei when she passed on. He was giving tips on how to hold the tsuka better and such when they reached the summit of the hill.

As always they stopped what they were doing and just looked at the view. The sun was still around an hour or so from setting so it was a really nice view. It was late fall, really late fall. It should have been snowing before now, but for some reason it didn't want to cool off enough to do so. As a result there was a lot of dead looking trees that had lost their brown and red leaves long ago, but still not a single sign of a white flake. They wrapped their light jackets a little tighter around themselves as a cold gust of wind set in.

They decided they wanted to watch the sun set so they climbed over the railing and sat on the hill that once was so green and soft, now was rather brown and prickly. While they were talking, Karin started looking high into the sky rather wistfully. Toshiro had noticed her doing that a lot lately. For the last couple of his visits whenever they were outside and just talking, she would look up into the sky like it holds the answer to the universe. There came a lull in their conversation and Karin sighed."What's wrong?" asked Toshiro.

"Nothing really," replied Karin. "I just wish it would snow. I've always liked watching the first snow of the season fall. I'm afraid I'll miss it."

Toshiro looked at her for a couple minutes then gently covered her hand with his own as it gently begins to snow. She gasped slightly and looked at him, then returns the soft smile on his face and they both gently lean forward for their first kiss as a veil of white slowly obscures them.
