Without you, the ground thaws, the rain falls, the grass grows.
It didn't seem fair that life went on. For everyone around her, life went on. And she was here. Alone. Feeling the anger rising in her chest again, she pointed her wand out the window, taking it out everything beautiful she could see.
Without you, the seeds root, the flowers bloom, the children play.
It hurt to see them in the distance. That field where she used to roll about in the mud with her brothers, alive with dreams and possibilities. There had once been a time when dreams were real to her, not just faded memories. But that time was gone.
The
stars gleam, the poets dream, the eagles fly, without you.
The
earth turns, the sun burns, but I die, without you.
Reaching up, she brushed a tear from her eye. It was ironic, she had never realised the true meaning of love until he left. An age-old cliché, we never know what we have till it's gone.
Without you, the breeze warms, the girl smiles, the cloud moves.
She saw herself as she once was. She often wondered what had become of that girl – that tomboyish, curious little girl. He had stolen her, changed her, captured her heart. And yet she had given it willingly.
Without you, the tides change, the boys run, the oceans crash.
He ran from her, pulling away, breaking her in the process. She felt she would never be complete again. Nothing would compensate for his absence from her life. Nothing would ever make life the same again.
The
crowds roar, the days soar, the babies cry, without you.
The moon
glows, the river flows, but I die, without you.
Surely she was dead already. There could be nothing more painful than this – she would gladly be tortured for days if she could just purge herself of this ache for him. She wanted life to end, just so she would be free of it.
The
world revives, colours renew,
But I know blue, only blue, lonely
blue, within me blue
Without you.
The light returned, yet she remained in the dark. Her world was black and white. Her life was meaningless. She had no part to play. She was finished.
Without you, the hand gropes, the ear hears, the pulse beats.
Without you, the eyes gaze, the legs walks, the lungs breathe.
Life seemed unbearably slow, as if fate was taunting her. She felt a sob escape her throat, threatening to take hold until she could hold it in no longer.
The
mind churns!
She
wept. The mind churns!
She shook.
The
heart yearns!
'Harry?'
The
heart yearns!'Harry!'
The tears dry, without you.
A noise, behind her.
Life
goes on, but I'm gone.
'Mum?'
'Cause
I die, without you.
'I'm here.'
Without you.She gripped his tiny hand in hers, adjusting her black dress so that the tear stains were no longer visible. She had grown efficient at that.
Without you.'Are you sad, mum?'
Without you.
'Always.'
